If you don't choose biomass missile specialization, is there other ways to damage shields or do you just have to hope people with the specialization join? I.E. can I damage shields with grenades or other explosives?

i only joined like below 10 prime wars, and only novice ones, i never ever saw anyone except me field a gattling canon.... they mostly using molotov, granades and i guess Atomic Lighter explosives ?
Stil this is when like 5-10 ppl atack the boss, im not sure if thts viable solo without a canon
btw 1 canon(lv 2) easly obliterate boss solo.. just those stupid rocket cost so much...

Biomass missiles don't need a specialisation. Red Plasma specialisation is needed for the nightmare prime wars

Biomass Specialize triples your crafting yield and reduce it's carry weight by 80% (iirc) which is one of the best specialization to have on Manibus server but it's not a requirement.
You can craft the heavier and more costly version on your own or ask other players for them.

There is another specialization, Red Plasma Round (or new name, Silver Plasma) which will deal 3(iirc) times the damage with extra cost and only last 30minutes after crafted which is needed for Manibus Primewar (Nightmare). But it also dropped from killing normal boss in the primewar area. So technically, it's also not required but will make the fight significantly quicker and easier.

Silver Plasma (75k unbuffed) does 5 x DMG of Biomass (15k unbuffed), crafted one lasts 24 hours. Silver Plasma looted from OE Kin in Nightmare Prime War lasts 30 minutes.
