Opening asterism crates after reaching starchrom max?

If we have reached our max starchrom for the month what happens if you redeem additional asterism crates? I have a ton inherited from past seasons and new crates, but am unsure if opening then now would waste them.

The overflow vanishes. It warns you before you use to many Asterism Crates that "amount will exceed current limit". If you select yes, then any excess is lost. Use only what you need to at the end of each cycle.

=D i don't even know why they have a limit, like territory purs are totally useless now, the one thing i was looking forward for every week, they took that away, because that does not give crates, and it all goes to waste. so dumb, this dev is sooooo bloody dumb it ain't funny no more, they seem to care about your money but are not willing to do work for it.
