Personal Opinion - Spectral Hunt and the whole Lunar events/boxes are trash and the rewards are not worth it

Please understand this is my personal opinion and experience might vary from player to player. This is more of a vent type of post anyways.

Just like the title says, i think that while a great idea in theory, the whole spectral hunt/lunar boxes are trash due to the trash rewards they give.

What is the point of opening lots of lunar boxes when all you get are crossbows/pistols/smg and their calibrations when you scrap them? I opened over 200 boxes and guess what? 45% of the weapons were crossbows, and the rest was an equal mix of SMG/Pistols. I run a Boom Boom build with AWP as a secondary and crossbows/smgs/pistols are useless to me. Why can't there be a LMG or a sniper from time to time?

And what about the lunar whispers that expire after 12h? Yaaay, i killed 20 OP doppelgangers and got 2k lunar spawns. but i can't play for the next 12h, due to various reasons so they are wasted...yaaaay

And don't get me started on the Spectral hunt enemies. spend all that time and effort to kill them and for what? A box with rewards that are not worth the time? You get better rewards form a Prime War Utter disappointment.

And before anyone says "but you joined a lunar server". yes, I did join because i thought it was a cool idea, but now all i am waiting is for the last phase to come , buy the Aster..whatever-they-are-called crates and then i am off to a non-lunar Manibus or Way of Winter. The only thing that i like about the whole thing is a chance to get a lunar deviation. Not sure if there is a bug or anything, but our of 30 deviations i got from boxes in the last 3 weeks, none were 5/?, Highest i got was a 4/4 dog. Maybe I am unlucky

You only get lvl 5 dev from 120 whisper crate or high lvl Spectral Spawn. I got a dozen lvl 5 (not 5/5 but 5/3 and 5/4) Lunar dev easily. Just skip anything under 120 whisper and any spectral under lvl 41+.

Lunar mods are also very good for Low Sanity build, they boast the highest stats by far. Shame it's only head and body mods.

I run with a critical pulse. So, I absolutely have no problem with the abundance of the calibrations for it.

There are only two things that make lunar chest worth it for anyone not running Primal Rage build, lunar animals and luner deviants. And even then, they really benefit PR spec.

Of course lunar activities seem hard to you.

However, they never said anything about getting help from the other players in the world.

Lunaspawn too hard to kill alone? if 10+ players are running in the area (Blackfell hunting party) and joined the fight. It will be done in seconds. Same rewards. Little efforts.

Luna whispers too hard to farm alone? Join the beach party where players spam scooping sea water and summon lots of whispers, you get tons of loots effortlessly.

Any item is too hard to get? There are 100+ vending machines in the harvester market.
Pokemon 5-5 might be hard to come by but other than that (like 4-5 or 5-3) it's all over the market.

For me it was too easy, just a few chat and clicks to get everything I need.

Thank you for the input...i never said it seemed hard, but i find it rather pointless as in the rewards not worth the time and effort most times. I don't get more than 2-3h daily play, usually in the morning before work and maybe 1-1.5h after so the whispers i do not get to use are wasted away.

Now, don't take it as an insult, but you must be on a good server, because here in 0139 i haven't seen a beach party since phase 2 and the vending machines....oh brother, you don't want to know some of the asking prices for stuff (I.e 3/3 lunar doggy with 1 negative trait - 200k EL) and most of the deviations i saw for sale were..let's just say basic.

Even the stuff you need, like portable fridge, backpack expansion have +50K EL prices...

Just gonna chip in here with one point, nobody NEEDS things like backpacks, chef's knives, gardening gloves etc or workbenches with multiple buffs. WANT and NEED are not the same thing. As for prices, they are high because people are willing to pay those prices.

I've not paid anyone to build workstations with perks for 3 seasons now and it has not prevented me from doing any content, yeah a bit more time resource gathering but getting resources is easy and does not take very long.

I'm not sure why do you think 50k EL is hard to find. It only needs a few mouse clicks to join a public event and another 3 minutes for each event to get 20,000+ EL from it.

If your playtime is 1 hour a day, you will at the very least took 2-3 events, that's 60000+ k EL. That's plenty of EL to go around.

Not to mention that you can set up an offline farm, as for my case, a simple corn farm that produce 100+ corn ales each time I logged back in, don't need anything complex just Growshroom + Rainman. Selling 100 corn ales to NPC yield instant 20000 EL.

I don't select server randomly, I join a populated one because items will be easier to find there. Since the game allowed "co-op" tasks, more people finish the job faster.

And it's even more easy when you add some specialists, such as backpack crafters, as your friend.

The reason Lunar only drops BP for the three latest weapons is because they do not want to make other contents redundant. Want other BP? Go Silo/Monolith. Same as other Mods. Keyword mods = Public Event, Violent/Precision/Talent mods = Silo and Monolith. Lunar mods = Lunar. Super Anomaly BP (e.g Overflow Machine Gun) = Super Anomaly Elites.
