Permanent Servers: Start now versus wait for new scenario?

To summarize, if we play now, do we keep all of our progress from now on?

Will we still get new content? Is there anything new since launch? Ie. Will the entire map be open for everyone?

I realize PvP is dead, but I might come back for some good PvE base building fun.

The permanent server doesn't go live until 13 March, I would imagine it's applied to servers that start from that date.
It converts to the permanent server after a season ends so the whole map will be open.

Doesnt look like there will be much in the way of updates at least not new content. This is from their post:

Permanent servers will be kept in their original state. Updates and changes that can only be applied to new servers will not affect permanent servers. These changes include:
i. Major scenario changes, such as new regions, modifications to existing regions, or the addition/removal of Public Crisis Events.
ii. New Memetics and changes to Memetic Specializations.
iii. Changes to season goals, seasonal challenges.
iv. Map changes.
v. New game modes based on seasonal phases.

New content not exclusive to new servers will be applied to permanent servers, including:
i. Construction optimizations, including new building materials and components.
ii. Changes, optimizations, and additions to the ranching and farming systems.
iii. Weapon balance adjustments.
iv. New cosmetics and events.
v. Bug fixes and optimizations.
In future updates, we will specifically indicate whether or not new content will be applied to permanent servers

A new PvE Scenario - Endless Dream will be released later (Q3?), which is a combination of Manibus and WoW map. You may want to wait for that because permanent server does not get new content beyond Visional Wheel (if your server has this tag).

PHEW! As a relative newbie, and 'grumpy old bastard' gamer, I played Manibus last 'season' for the first time, and got to the final zone and level 51, but still would have liked to experience the rest of the scenario. These perma servers are the best thing they could have done for us casual carebears! ;)

So I restarted Manibus with the same character, was able to transfer an electric chainsaw/drill across, plus a few other things ppl recommended, which have really sped things up, especially with a good SMG and Sniper rifle BPs I really emjoyed! I chose the 'simple' scenario this time, which seems to have really sped up the levelling (already at 30 after only 2-3 1-2hr sessions!), but skipped all the story and questing, so not sure if I've stuffed myself up, heh. Also, this Lunar event keeps popping up all the time randomly and 90% of my health is chewed up with my (in)sanity bar - how do I stop or mitigate this? Did I tick the wrong box when I restarted this character with this new Manibus scenario somehow...? 8-/

Still confused about these 6 week (really 10-11 week?) server resets, but that won't be an issue with the new perma servers I imagine. So, if I want to try the Winter scenario or one of the others, should I start a new character once perma goes into effect, or will I be able to somehow use this main I have, once I've completed Manibus again..? Thanks in advance guys!

Thanks mate, this all seems to be unnecessarily complicated for us casuals who only PvE, mostly solo and just want to play around on at least one character indefinitely, heh. And I've been playing mmos since before the term existed and online was BBS/dial-up lol!
