Once Human

Once Human

Have They Fixed Memetics?
I stopped playing back in July because Memetics were too stupidly random:
If you wanted to, say, refine Stardust Ore:
* You needed to pray to RNG is pops up at the specific level to select it.
* If it does not; You need to waste a once-a-week item on rerolling the proper Memetic level for it.
For THAT to work, you have to know which level it rolls at, which is not mentioned in-game.
* When you reroll the Memetics, you need to pray to RNG again that it shows up as an option.
* When it does not show up; You now need to wait another week to reroll again. Pray it shows up, or you will be waiting a third week. Then a fourth.

It is/was the most stupid, RNG heavy, anti-player setup possible. All meant to waste a player's time.

Which is sad, because the gameplay itself, and the base building, are fun. But the RNG of the bloody skill system (I've never seen another game that RNGs the SKILL SYSTEM) drags the game down heavily.

The specializations are still random but you can get them as drops from hard/pro dungeons or buy them from vending machines as well if you want to customize a bit.

Well crap.
I was hoping they would have taken feedback in and changed it.

I'll give the game another try, since it is fun, but the RNG skill system is still, in my opinion, incredibly stupid.

I'm not sure where they're getting their feedback from tbh because it doesn't seem to be the Steam forums yet with every update they talk about "listening to feedback" lol...

The RNG skill system is the main reason why the meta right now seems to be for players to use the transfer exploit to get multiple of their own characters on to the same server and then to just wait for phase 2 and head to the towns in the final areas of the game to engage in infinite trading loops and just buy up everything they want from the 298437562 vending machines that immediately litter the place.
I kind of see why they did it as they did they are trying to encourage people to group up with other players, and share resources, and skills with each other...

But reality is a bit different as people don't like having to rely on other people who might not login again tomorrow when you need something done.

Sadly, it's still still there - The most unfair and disgusting RNG thing ever added to any game (aside real money "loot boxes" in other games - which literally IS a crime...).

So! If you're lucky, you get rich stepping on the back of the rest of the players, if not, you are the drone grinding for nothing, for the billionaire few in the server. Real Life Simulator....
