If you haven't maxed out Asterism, Purification is a lot faster than any other content to get Asterism. 4000-4400 is a lot, speedrun Silo/Monolith gives about 100-200 per run (depends on if you waste time to shoot non bosses) so that's about 30-40 runs of Silo/Monolith.
If you have, yes it's useless. The thing is they changed to Asterism because people feel like min/maxing between scenario (Way of Winter and the shorter Prism Clash were giving more Starchrom) and then the people who abuse Early Scenario Exit to farm Starchrom. Also because people don't like to be forced to do certain content. If you don't like Purification, you still had to do it anyway because otherwise you are missing out on Weekly Starchrom. Now you don't fear of missing out if you don't do Purification.
