Now you could get lucky and get what you want from the first crate you open which makes the cosmetic you want seem good value or you could buy dozens or 100+ crates and still not get the item.
Yes the game needs funding as it FTP so its either sell cosmetics (which I do not have an issue with, I've spent some money on 1 clothing set and a couple of battle passes) or we will soon end up with something like 'Pure o2' from Ready Player One.
TLDR: cosmetics for set prices = fine. Loot boxes = money grabbing BS
there is a youtuber called Dovaz, that actually opens lootboxes ( there are more i know).
while watching this video, i got actually very disgusted on how these "surprise game mechanics" are working.
at one point he just got all doubles, nothing new. aha! but here is the kicker: they keep you going because you can "earn" lightforge gems, and it just so happens that you need 10 (?) of those to buy the actual car skin?
not only that, on his very FIRST roll he already got doubles.
There is a reason why belgium and the netherlands are strongly against games that have these mechanics.
for example: diablo immortal, is just not even downloadable here in belgium because of ther "surprise game mechanics"
i really feel for you man, seriously. however, i am not going to say that no one should or could do what they do with their own money, its yours not mine, in the end.( and im not having a go at you, its just sad that you had to spend this amount for a skin).
but what i wil say is that with the amount of money some people spend on games, just to get a skin, makes me wonder how far some people are willing to go, just to get a different set of pixels, on the things they are using in game.
and last but not least:
you can all thank EA for the kind of crap that companies are pulling off in their games these days. i mean, look at their FIFA series: filled with surprise game mechanics, which they then started to import in all their other games, and off course, other companies followed.
EA, Blizzard, Activision, ubi soft, bethesda......
there us a reason that all of these companies are on my personal boycot list. if its not money grabbing, then its just the blatant releasing of games that should not even be in alpha stage. " Nah bro, the game is fine, the modders will take care of it for us!!!"
Yea this is something i see lately more and more and makes me ask same question how far ppl are gonna push it so the devs can make more and more greedy gacha systems...
its everyone's money and so dont need to care sure but still how far we are from like 1000 euro/dollars per gacha at this rate....the games are getting more and more trash with more bugs yet gachas and loot boxes are always in day 1 and more expensive with each new game each year..
Best post ever. All the way down to the last line. I've heard they are bringing back the "Pyroglide" skin for the motorcycle "soon". I would really love to have that, but I don't even go to real casinos (and I live in Oklahoma!!). I'd be much happier to just outright BUY the skin like you can other cosmetics. I'm not going to gamble for it just to end up with a bunch of stupid "stickers" and charms and crap I have ZERO interest in.
Not to derail this discussion, but I 100% agree with the "Nah bro, the game is fine, the modders will take care of it for us!!". Way too many games like that these days.
You could just buy the gems outright and then purchase the car skin, but of course gems are idiotically expensive
YET, the focused on gambling cosmetics that can cost hundreds and want $30 per light forge crystal (which is insane) if you dont want to gamble. Literally the last car skin was $600 dollars. Not to mention, they pay wall the achievements. So you have to grind them and then PAY. Scummy ass devs man.
This game was SOO good at lauch with 300k+ ppl.. and tbh they fumbled the bag so hard man. Seems they only care about money n thats a bout it.
