Is this playable as a solo player?

I usually dont play with people in survival games, mostly because my friends dont like survival games so Im forced to play solo unless a find some good random guy who will play with me. Im thinking on playing the game (I only played the tutorial at launch but I want to go back and give it a 2nd chance).

I was wondering if I can play and be somewhat useful on my own, or im doomed to get raided/killed everytime I go for resources, like in Rust?

If you choose the build correctly, you can do everything solo on the Novice server (I recommend shrapnel build SOCR), I don't know about higher difficulty levels, I just finished Novice. The only thing you have to do is prime war with others, it's a server challenge and it was fun, but it's co-op, someone starts prime war, you see it on the map and you can immediately teleport there and take part, simple and fast. You just have to watch what's happening on the server - if you don't take part in the prime wars phase, you may have problems with completing lower levels later if everyone has already done it and is bored with it. And you have to start in order, you won't take part in the hard difficulty if you haven't passed the easy one first.

Does the game has any sort of matchmaking or grouping automatically? Or I need to post in chat if i want to look for players like me? Thanks for the comment btw

The game is very playable as a solo player.. If you want to make a group for something, you have to make it happen :) You can join events where there are others, but that's about it.. In that case, it's simply due to all of you running towards the same event

Yes, there is a matchmaker, but it is rarely used because you can solo a lot without a problem, at higher difficulty levels of given locations you can easily find a party because people farm, for example, deviations and the party goes much faster than solo. Besides, the community is quite helpful in this game and there will always be people who will help you if you have a problem with something, just ask in the chat.

Even on a hard server, you can do pretty much everything solo if you want to. Speaking as a player who Started with a hard server as their first server, and who has primarily soloed everything. Even 40 level 3 cortex purifications can be done solo if you put your base in the right place and build your defenses well.

You basically can't solo prime wars; If you start one, others will join it, But you don't have to party up or interact with them. And you CAN solo LEA labs which is the game's "Raid" dungeon essentially with 4 bosses and some trash between each, but it's very hard to do so.

Beyond that, if you're okay with partying up In general, Just watch world chat, people post looking for parties regularly, keep an eye out for one you need/want to do, and click the icon, no real fuss to it.

As for getting raided/killed, That'll only apply on pvp servers. In PvE servers, you have to opt into pvp mode by holding the P key, or by being in one of the cargo scramble events, both of which are, of course, completely avoidable.

One of the most important rules I have learned is to post everything in the chat and there will definitely be help. when you start something and need help, whether it's prime war or instance, you can post it in the chat and there will be people who will help. The key is to write a description of what you are starting the party with and people will definitely join you.

Thanks for the comment, ill give the game a try. The 1st time I just did the tutorial and closed it purely becaues I felt overwhelmed by all the stuff that the game had, specially all these passive skill points everwyhere, I felt like it would take months to see a little portion of the game lol. But I will give a try

I also don't like starting and learning new mmo games, but I really liked the atmosphere here. Don't waste time figuring out everything yourself. There is already a lot of information on what to use, what builds are good, treat the Novice season as a time to learn the game, I'm still learning, but that's what mmo games are like. Don't reinvent the wheel, use the knowledge on the Internet, if you have any doubts, Google will answer everything, the game is not as complicated as it seems in the first days.

Once you reach Level 50 story content is locked behind the LEA dungeon which is a pain solo i had fun up until the point where you basically needed to grind currency for an op build or be in group to progress.

Yes, auto matchmaking here is dead completely. Or broken, dunno.
You can do everything solo except hard missions, probably. Maybe they scale amount of mobs, but we did hard in 3-4 ppl and there are plenty of mobs, that just flood you solo.
For matchmaking you need to make a team and "post" it in chat. Better if you pick in option, what mission you need to do. Usually someone joins instantly. Just don't expect real team work. Most ppl just fast run everything. So they can kill boss before you arrive)

Don't mind these points e t.c. At first you need just crossbow to shoot cheap and any melee weapon.
For food fried meat is good enough and usual water. Very very later in the game you can cook a bit better options.
For home you need bed (hp regen) and 4 devices (for dismantling, for making(upgrading/repairing) weapons/armor, for making metals). Other stuff is pretty irrelevant at first.

Yeah, it is annoying, that they make a lot of complications for the sake of complications. Like 4-5 different currency for 0 reason, 90% useless skills e t.c.

Also you can move your home (base) anytime, (press B than Z). So it is not too important, where to build base. Just make some space free for garage with bike.

In PVE server I would say yes and no. For getting resources as long as u stick to the areas around ur level u will be fine( I even got resources from level 45 area when I was only level 16 but I knew their pattern and everything already since it was my second server) but for bosses specially the last ones it’s a no unless u have an amazing built for ur weapons. I play with SOCR the Valor I have 30% critic rate and 290% critic damage plus all those other things( all my mods are at 15 or 12% critic rate) still I play with just one other player for Forsaken and Lea specially. Silo Phi I need the whole 4 player team else impossible. But getting a team for targeted areas is usually very easy u only need to share a recruitment message on ur world chat and players will apply for ur team. As for PVP I am not sure since never played it.

If you are talking about pve, you can play solo on most dungeons provided you are well equip and somewhat skillful, except prime war and certain world events. I am playing solo myself, really depends what you want to do in game.

Edit: The dungeons mentioned above are usually the one people have trouble with.
Forsaken, Lea, PHI or may be the spider one. Forsaken is much easier to solo than having a party once you understand the mechanic.

you can solo everything in the game an once might argue its actually easier solo since boss scale per player added.
