Once Human going to get Lawsuit next for Monster-Capturing Mechanic?
Steam Link: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1623730/discussions/0/4852154959746784059/?ctp=11
Patent: https://patents.justia.com/patent/20240278129
TL;DR: https://chatgpt.com/share/66eba42c-a2b8-8003-85ba-d9bc8b835e97

So, Does this mean Once Human's Deviant Capturing Pet system is about the same as PalWorld, and Pokemon right? Don't hate me I am not saying Once Human is, infact, quite the opposite, but by the logic of Nintendo's heinous attempt to patent this in May 2024, i find this entertaining as watching twin towers get rammed again.

Discuss...cause this is just the most ridiculous thing I have EVER seen from (nintendo)..

Dude, Palworld Pal design is a clear copy of Pokemon. Deviants don't look anything like that.

I don't think Once Human is affected.

There are no objects aimed and thrown at the deviations to capture them.

It is pretty much run to deviation press F when prompt appears, repeat until captured.

This would pretty much be every kind of fetch quest.

Once Human takes big inspiration from SCP Foundation
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/

But it's a community project so there's not gonna be any lawsuit.

The Pyro-Dino/Chefosaurus, H-37, Nutcracker etc. can pass for Dr Wondertainment creation if any.

You didn't even bother to read anything, and you clearly have no clue what you are even talking about. Move along.

That is a fair point, there is no point, throw, capture system, but the rest of the "ideal" concepts are there, they are pets, they are in some cases "cute" like the bee. And they work in your base, very similair to that of palworld's pets, Pokemon doen't do it, the patent seems to only focus on the "Point, throw, capture" mechanic.

I was only curious how far this rabbit hole will go though.

You actually have zero idea what you said. For the longest time people are already wondering WHEN will Nintendo sue Palworld and not IF. Pal design is almost 1 for 1 copy from Pokemon. The terms are not publicly known yet, all Nintendo is announcing is they are suing Palworld creator.

And again, Once Human is very clearly based on SCP Foundation, even using the same terms.
Secure the deviation
Contain them in the Containment Unit
Protect, well this is what Rosetta does. Rosetta is the Foundation.

We have no idea what patents Nintendo is claiming PocketPair is infringing upon. Perhaps we should wait to see what the case actually IS before jumping to conclusions?

doesnt work like that bud, this is nothing like Nintendo games

Reminds me of Sky TV trying to claim copy right over the word Sky to sue No Mans Sky devs. Surprised Nintendo don't sue because the player walks upright.

Maybe Palworld will sue Once Human :steamhappy:

I remember when i was a kid, more than 30 years ago, pokemon wasn't a thing and i was catching bugs in my garden with my brothers...

I guess we should have patented that activity. LOL

Nintendo will file lawsuit every times someone farts, is no longer surprising or interesting.

Nintendo is claiming that the game mechanics of palworld are too similar to theirs, specifically monster capturing through ball like objects is the main patent they are claiming is being infringed upon. Bunch of people in this thread don't seem to know what their really talking about when it comes to copyright and patent laws.

if anything they should get a lawsuit for pushing CCP agendas

LMAO, Nintendo has not claimed anything. What weed are you high on? All Nintendo has said is they are suing Palworld because they infringe on their patents. Until court documents become public, then wtf are those patents is anyone's guess.

You clearly have no idea how the world works mate.

Can you show me where this is? There is no "CCP" agenda being pushed. It's a video game bro, it's not that deep.

Even still, Nintendo can't really do anything. They don't hold the all mighty rights to be the sole creators of that style of game. It'd be as stupid as if a bunch of Fast Food places just sued one another because they all sold Cheeseburgers.

Nintendo is basically sending out junk mail at this point.
