Well the mistery of Lovecraft genre is there, the powers is just basic telekinesis for some environmental items, buffs (double jump, light emission if enemies get close, laying a web on tumble that roots enemies...) and entities created by merging with human emotions/consciousness that we use as companions called deviants.
Besides that seems that currently we are meant to participate in the world like Monster Hunter but still in the early stages of it. You will soon learn the players are Metas while both Roseta and the resistance/survivors are just humans/clones without powers most of the times.
My interpretation of existing lore... if you care to read it or not.
Is that a cataclism happened and it enveloped the world Roseta under the guidance of Victor Hammet put into practice a system that created a buble preventing the region of Nalcot from being consumed by Stardust decaying like the rest of the world.
But it wasn't enough, that protective buble only slowed down the Stardust exposure and decay of Nalcot.
A weird amount of time has passed (it gave me the sensation that time warped somewhat). Survivors forgot what actually happened or never understood the cataclysm. Several were affected by Stardust and Stardust mutated entities like the Great Ones (deviants that have amassed huge amounts of power) or feel into insanity (Vultures a faction of Great One worshipers).
The world of Nalcot seems to have also dimensionally fractured, Metas (players) can hop between 10 parallel worlds and after a Season actually Dimension hop to another reality through the use of their pocket Dimension (Eternaland).
Besides Metas, Mitsuko one of the NPC metas that was an experiment in Roseta also has the capability to hop between dimensions and affect these worlds, though she witnessed the destruction of the Mayflys due to the actions of Mary (another Meta), and became traumatized and secluded herself to her pocket dimension.
(Mary can't dimension hop and seems to be bound to her world.)
Once the player enters the world, (he/she might be an anomaly) is Meta found by Roseta and regains counciousness, from there on V (a deviant that seems to have been born from Victor Hammet counsciousness) senses the player and guides he/she to escape Roseta and meet Mitsuko. Conviniently what allowed this was a rampant deviant a Great One Ravenus Hunter managing to escape.
Now from my speculation, what caused that Deviantion to go rampant and awaken the player was Mary.
But what let's say births the anomaly that is the player, is Mitsuko.
As we learn Mitsuko is a Meta a special Meta and a powerful one at that (due to dimension hoping allows her to influence that reality in many ways). With a traumatic background not only was she an experiment the only source of light in her life Victor Hammet and the Mayflies are both destroyed. Challenging her with a choice of saving humanity or wiping whatever remains, this choice is made during her isolation and delayed thanks to V (there could be another omitted factor here).
Due to reality fracturing there are several Mitsukos and while some isolated themselves, other Mitsukos made a choice of either save or destroy. The (let's say Good) Mitsukos birth the anomaly that is the player to help V and their counter parts to save humanity.
The "Evil" accelerate the effects of Stardust.
On the actual game experience it's quite chill, majority of the stuff we have to do doesn't need players helping each other, several side plot lines of the worlds to collect and events to participate.
Plot content can feel somewhat scarce but seems intentional because technically the player is reconstructing the fallen faction Mayflies to face one of the Roseta factions being lead by Mary. From there on i don't know how much plot changes in PvP servers, or how much will add to the existing plot October 17th.
THE greatest crafting and base build mechanics game ever made bruh

Secure - Contain - Protect. Rosetta Corporation is literally SCP Foundation, the lore documents you found literally use the same *redacted* writings. The deviants/deviations are Anomaly in SCP, down right to Containment Procedure. Yes, SCP Foundation is inspired by Lovecraftian. There's an SCP-2662 who is basically Teenage Mutant Cthulhu Boy who only wants to be left alone, but them Cthulhu Cultist always show up/converted by his mere presence and ruin things.
Festering Gel is literally SCP-999, a demi-god who genuinely wants to make every happy.
