Stardust water pump is a scam
So I have to supply it with 10w or power and storage batteries for it to make a cpl of stardust source. That is not even remotely close to being worth it, considering the cost of each storage battery (which also gets consumed)

A couple? Doesn't it run forever, just produces slowly?
Saves you doing the work, makes sense it's a slower method. I do the Startrace + fuel method instead. But still very slow.

Bullhonkey.. 20 acid and some rubber for 80 stardust source that you toss in and forget is amazing. Make like 100 batteries and you've got enough to max out several sets.

"b-b-b-b-but acid and rubber!" What else are you using it on? Didn't farm rubber during week 2 and 3? Didn't have alts for infinite acid with Hales moving house? Too lazy to AFK for sproutlets to farm acid? Didn't watch my youtube tutorials?

Your loss.

It takes more than that to make 1 storage battery, And it consumes the battery. stardust source is not worth all of those components.

15 Steel
20 Rubber
20 Acid
10 Electronic components
= 80 Stardust source
Also you have to reload it with storage batteries

That isn't worth it at all.

Not to mention the fact that I had to blow a specialization slot to get it. And how passive really is it when I have to keep farming electronic components? those alone take some serious grinding to get a good amount.

Its more worthwhile late game when I am producing these materials late game en-masse and have nothing better to do with them. I couldnt get a good spot for startrace ore or oil on my server so I just pack a tiny generator with as many batteries as I can possibly craft every day and I have an endless supply of stardust that isnt hyper controlled by the rest of the market.

It really boils down to location luck and how many people you have teamed up with you for resource bounties. To each their own.

Thing I hate most about it is the use of the Electronic components since loot only respawns every 4 hrs. I was hoping it was more of a passive farm like acid.

20 acid? try 60. 3 batteries for 80 stardust. If you have a good acid farm running dedicated.. might be worth it, but the fuel/sulfur mix is a much better way of getting stardust, the pump is a waste of space.

It's not just a slow method, it's a costly method with negative yield. Spam Stardust Miners, it's a whole lot better

You're right.
DarlingLionheart Oct 1, 2024 @ 6:34pm
Hah, thanks for learning for me XD I had no idea the recipe was that costly. Wish those stupid "descriptions" of the specializations actually gave you useful data like that. You know, the button that says "Inspection" which is supposed to show such data, but is still empty (or incorrect) for almost every spec.
it requires a bit more investment but it produces stardust fast. mid-late game its easy to keep it running with your stockpile of resources (assuming youve been looting). my first server i got it (by blowing all my re-specs. awful luck) and i needed to buy E parts from others to meet my needs, but i was on a laid-back and cooperative PvE server so it wasnt really taxing.

oil refining is definitely more consistent and less taxing though, especially with improved furnaces. havent gotten the stardust mining platform so i cant comment on it, but stardust pump definitely falls behind oil refining.

itd be better with a higher output or just not consuming batteries. maybe it could be reworked to pump small amounts of stardust by default, and work faster if you add batteries, or have different power settings and skip the batteries entirely

What kind of garbage answer is that?
"You didn't watch my yt tutorials? Your loss."?

"What else are you using it on?" There are at least half a dozen things to use acid on, aluminum for food, tungsten for equipment/calibration, bullets if you wanna increase your damage even further.
Activators, and several whims.

Sure, at some point, if you farm enough, you might not need acid anymore as you upgraded everything high enough, but guess what, then you don't need stardust anymore as well....

"Didn't have alts for infinite acid" that's the must scummiest thing you can do, and officially, it can even get you banned to have multiple characters on the same server, and rightfully so. You're wasting space, and disturb the balance with such behavior.

"Too lazy to afk for sproutlets" You're lucky if there are 0 players contesting the Sproutlet event, even on pve-servers, there are often enough players who will actively fight and kill you. It's not just a simply "afk farm".

Get real...

You don't even need alts.
Anyone who actually PLAYS this game, as in actually going out and do salvage runs, world events etc. Will drown you in rubber and acid.
