What is the non-stop beeping, and how do I turn it off?

I'm new to the game and I'm really annoyed by this beeping that won't stop. A constant tick or beep or blip sound that is driving me insane. How do I disable it? I thought it was the global chat notification but I disabled that and it's still there.

Any advice besides disabling all game sound effects? Thanks for any guidance here.

its your backpack. No idea what it signifies though.. I do agree it IS really )#(*$ing annoying. I think it beeps when yer near something in the game. What that is though, I have no gott damn idea

Are you in a contaminated area? Are there numbers on your backpack? If so, that's what that is. Otherwise, I'm not sure. Check if there are accessibility options or something that may be causing it. My game won't load right now so I can't check.

Also, if the little circle on your backpack is flashing, that means you're near a mystical chest. It flashes faster the closer you are to it. Press Q when it's flashing fairly fast and the chest will appear.

Yes, there are numbers on my backpack. So I'm guessing it's a warning of some sort. Still, annoying AF. I wish it could be disabled.

It resembles a Geiger Counter, which is used to determine how much Radiation is in the area you are in. Its a staple of gameplay, so I would suggest hitting the discord and the suggestions/feedback channels about having an option to toggle the sound off.
