its free to play, check it out. nothing to lose (but time i guess)
A little under a year ago this game was pretty amazing and I would have easily recommended it, but after a year of dumbing the gameplay down it's not really a survival game anymore, and it doesn't even have remotely challenging combat any longer.
So what does that leave us with? A game with a ~6 week seasonal reset model where you do repetitive tasks on literal checklist to unlock rewards, some of which you'll be able to keep beyond the seasonal reset. And there's a poorly written, low quality story in there for you to click through. All of this set in a visually interesting landscape that will leave you wondering how a development studio could drop the ball so badly.
That about sums up the current version of the game. And I say this as someone who honestly felt an older, vastly better version of Once Human once had a reasonable chance at being nominated Game of the Year, so it's not like I wasn't a fan. But this is how it ended up, unfortunately.
It is free to play, so if you're looking to kill time on something (while being fine that much of what you accomplished will be wiped within a few weeks), then it'll likely provide you with some short term entertainment (and then eventually frustration).
Found my favorite parts of the game and used that to search for other games, used it more as a tool than a game. I don't trust netease with time.
You've probably seen everything it does in other games in the genre but it still fun if you like wandering through a big map clearing enemy outposts. Easy Chill game overall.
There are seasonal resets though, so after about 5 weeks you have the option to move to a new server. You retain most stuff but lose some minor things when transfering.
You can watch this if you want more info about how resets work and how much stuff you can move between seasons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpckfi7LwuE
