Way of Winter Problems [Constructive criticism thread]
Alright... I think it's time we speak a little about the new PvE scenario and how things are just not working properly in here. The whole thing feels rushed and not a lot of thought was put inside of many aspects of this new scenario.

Keep in mind, I absolutely LOVE the Way of Winter. We're having fun building the tower and seeing the whole server collaborate so hard to clean it and repel attacks... But there are so many mistakes done here. I will start saying all that doesn't work here.

If you want to participate to the discussion, I would implore you to keep it civil. We're not here to flame each other, I'm trying to give feedback to the Devs that (hopefully) read these forums.


1) Bugged Towers

All the resources to increase the amount of ores, plants and other physical things you can farm just don't work. We have a lvl 25 tower and the only thing that it's good for is the temperature increase (or decrease), the reduced crafting time and the pollution zone without suffering sanity damage. The rest is completely broken.

Also, we placed the tower in the water by mistake when we first built it, there was no way to destroy it and reporting the issue didn't do anything.


2) No apples, wheat and other plants

I believe it's ridiculous that some of the requirements for the tower are bound on special fertilisers... And the only way to obtain certain ingredients is worshipping the RNG Gods and hope you'll get an apple by cutting down trees with a silver axe.

Using a bacon burger makes this process a bit less tedious but new accounts will have no chance of doing it, since they can't bring seeds from a previous server for onions, cucumbers and other ingredients.

Also, teasing the players with decorative plants that are the same as scarlet calamus, sage and saffron without being able to pick them up is really bad.


3) Extreme lag on Chaosweavers encounters

It doesn't matter what they claimed they did in a previous patch, the lag is NOT fixed. Rubberbanding, hit registration issues and status attacks not activating are still a thing and it gets absolutely horrible when fighting a Chaosweaver and many people from the servers come to join the battle.

Let's even mention that they are incredibly tough... Even Biomissiles don't damage them much, nor break any armor, and they will quickly be completely ignored when the player numbers in future servers for the Way of Winter will start going down (like it happens in Manibus). There will be just no way to defeat them unless you craft tens of thousands ammo.

Also, why are they not treated like Prime Wars, where all the servers merge into a single area, to make things easier for everyone?
Granted, first the lag issue must be resolved... Or it will be impossible to even move.

4) Unfinished areas

This is less of an urgent matter but there are settlements or sections of the new map that have tons of loot... And not a single mob to be seen around?
And there's a specific stronghold in the last area, Ripe Land Farm, where all the items are misplaced, up in the air... Yes, even storage boxes.

It feels like they really rushed this release and haven't done things properly to cover everything... But hell, we got a new lootbox for Halloween anyway, right?

They're just not prioritising what's important.

In regards to point 2, it's only fruit like apple, coconut and banana that are a pain to farm. The scenario throw Fetch a lot Bunny at you every min and they can bring all the seeds for Sage, Scarlet Scalamus, Wheat etc. Also Saffron and Scarlet Scalamus seeds are available at NPC shop.

If I can give you some suggestions, try to make your gear with Seal fur (you'll find seals at the far right edge of the map), it's the best to fight cold. Also, look into your supply bench and craft yourself some Thermomium, converting it into cold or hot depending on what you need.

Also, Roasted Spikematoes provide some early game cover from cold, even if the best dish you can craft is the All-Weather Stew.

I personally had no problems with Scarlet Calamus (it was more the wait for them to grow that it was a pain, but it is what it is). The problem is the insane number of apples required to make all the farming upgrades of the Tower... It's seriously tedious and unnecessarily boring to do!

the biggest problem of this game. It's a lag they said: " they apologized about the lag issues and they promised to fix it". But in the end, even in the new scenario the problem wasn't being fixed yet. The game is so boring . No challenges point for the players

This new scenario is tedious and boring, all the grinding for scarse resources and the new obtuse temperature feature is just burning me out, and the novelty is wearing off.

I would also like to point out that the only new real dungeon content was 2 new silos, the 3 available bosses and 1 of the 3 silos are existing bosses. The "LEA" equivalent dungeon remains to be seen yet but I would have liked to see more winter themed deviants and bosses instead of reskinning a couple bosses and copy/pasta the fridge silo.

Reading all this makes me really glad that I decided to sit this one out. Just don't have any more patience left for all the lag and half-baked implementation.

I can't stay alive lone enough to gather resources, and harder to find the resources needed stay alive. Not having much fun in this one:steamfacepalm:

To stay alive, use food buffs, craft your gear with pellets that give you cold / heat resist, get a thermomium from the supply bench and switch it to cold or hot depending on what you need!

With my current setup, I can resist up to 75 degrees and there's no cold temperature that can give me hypothermia. ;)

Yeah I had trouble getting instant death in the story until I was properly geared and warmed up.
Sounds like you didnt craft gears with the correct hide for more resist.
I am currently using seal hide for top and pants for +10 to cold resist each.
2 piece Tier 1 rustic also gives +5 cold resist. (This can be discarded if you have heat stone and heat food.)
Heat stone gives +10, heat food +10, and torch is +5.
With all of that you should be able to walk to the edge of the map.

Main issue I have is obtaining materials to repair or make equipment. It seems to me that the areas to obtain them are too limited. I got to level 35 and gave up out of boredom and went back to vanilla game. Also the new deviants seem to be particularly useless in comparison to the vanilla game.

Easy trick is to craft Artisan Touch in Eternal Land and use it to repair your gears while you're in Eternal Land.

That as well. It felt a bit lazy to just reuse old bosses with a re-skin...

We'll see about the new dungeon.

I havn't encountered any lag on chaos weavers at all, even when streaming... But I did have a surprise set of stuttering pops doing Tower Purification for the first time.

There are also notably entire swaths of ore in different areas of the map that, once mined, do not despawn across any of the other worlds for an hour or more, which is weird.

But the fact that I have had the acid buff from the tower that is supposed to produce 50 acid per hour, and it never has, frustrates the people who are using it to craft more fuel. Its not a big number, but every little bit helps.

Yeah, none of the buffs for more resources around the area (or created in the tower itself) are working.

But I have no idea how you got no stutter or lag when the CW battles happen. In our server we're barely able to move.
