Way of Winter Problems [Constructive criticism thread]
Alright... I think it's time we speak a little about the new PvE scenario and how things are just not working properly in here. The whole thing feels rushed and not a lot of thought was put inside of many aspects of this new scenario.

Keep in mind, I absolutely LOVE the Way of Winter. We're having fun building the tower and seeing the whole server collaborate so hard to clean it and repel attacks... But there are so many mistakes done here. I will start saying all that doesn't work here.

If you want to participate to the discussion, I would implore you to keep it civil. We're not here to flame each other, I'm trying to give feedback to the Devs that (hopefully) read these forums.


1) Bugged Towers

All the resources to increase the amount of ores, plants and other physical things you can farm just don't work. We have a lvl 25 tower and the only thing that it's good for is the temperature increase (or decrease), the reduced crafting time and the pollution zone without suffering sanity damage. The rest is completely broken.

Also, we placed the tower in the water by mistake when we first built it, there was no way to destroy it and reporting the issue didn't do anything.


2) No apples, wheat and other plants

I believe it's ridiculous that some of the requirements for the tower are bound on special fertilisers... And the only way to obtain certain ingredients is worshipping the RNG Gods and hope you'll get an apple by cutting down trees with a silver axe.

Using a bacon burger makes this process a bit less tedious but new accounts will have no chance of doing it, since they can't bring seeds from a previous server for onions, cucumbers and other ingredients.

Also, teasing the players with decorative plants that are the same as scarlet calamus, sage and saffron without being able to pick them up is really bad.


3) Extreme lag on Chaosweavers encounters

It doesn't matter what they claimed they did in a previous patch, the lag is NOT fixed. Rubberbanding, hit registration issues and status attacks not activating are still a thing and it gets absolutely horrible when fighting a Chaosweaver and many people from the servers come to join the battle.

Let's even mention that they are incredibly tough... Even Biomissiles don't damage them much, nor break any armor, and they will quickly be completely ignored when the player numbers in future servers for the Way of Winter will start going down (like it happens in Manibus). There will be just no way to defeat them unless you craft tens of thousands ammo.

Also, why are they not treated like Prime Wars, where all the servers merge into a single area, to make things easier for everyone?
Granted, first the lag issue must be resolved... Or it will be impossible to even move.

4) Unfinished areas

This is less of an urgent matter but there are settlements or sections of the new map that have tons of loot... And not a single mob to be seen around?
And there's a specific stronghold in the last area, Ripe Land Farm, where all the items are misplaced, up in the air... Yes, even storage boxes.

It feels like they really rushed this release and haven't done things properly to cover everything... But hell, we got a new lootbox for Halloween anyway, right?

They're just not prioritising what's important.

Addressing 4 ,,,

I encountered places like this just to realize that it was recently sacked and mobs would respawn all around me. WoW scenario has attracted a lot of traffic and times, some zones feel empty ... till they are not.

But what I find odd is the tons of ores and items to scavenge. Like the north was a where all trash goes from Nalcott.

I get what you mean and I understand that some people may have just gone through. But there are 3 areas where there's just no mobs. The rift under the Secret Servitor monolith is one of them, then 2 settlements in the area around the Fire Throat.

I get what you mean and I understand that some people may have just gone through. But there are 3 areas where there's just no mobs. The rift under the Secret Servitor monolith is one of them, then 2 settlements in the area around the Fire Throat.
I will have to pay attention to those spots more

There's a rift anchor near a Monolith that's "empty" when idle.
But it's a rare Crisis Event spot.

If it's the one where you can jump down and it takes forever of free falling to reach the bottom, that's the one I'm talking about. We are currently in phase 2 in our server (Way of Winter 2) and I don't know if 1 is already in phase 3 so you guys can see the Crisis event.

So far, nothing spawned there for us.

+ Lag issues not fixed, insane lag at tower defense with 10+ people. Same as it was before, like no fix ever happened towards lag :/

The towers hasn't even been out for a week tho. What do you mean "same as before"?

Lag same as before, when 10+ do ''activity'' in area.

I am in W_W 001 and we are still in Phase 2. I am sure 1 and 2 opened up the same day

I really haven't seen it anywhere, with the specific that it should be treated as Hard Manibus... But I could have easily missed it!

The issue still remains with the apple farming... They should have allowed us to switch ingredients instead of this tedious tree chopping just to get some random apples, which are as well the least dropping fruit!

That does not say hard. Higher difficulty levels from novice can be normal or hard. Nothing in what you quoted says "Consider WoW as hard mode scenario".

From what I noticed about the W-W servers, none were marked hard before I jumped on one. And you can easily tell if it is hard.

Yeah... Sorry bud, but none of that says that it will be a hard server.

And normal ones are still doable. A bit harder, yes, but not impossible.

Here there was a complete oversight from the Devs, like not giving apples or other plants that are essential to growth in the server.

What I keep running into is with a torch out, heat stone, and heat food, in daytime, with sunny weather, cant get past a step in story due to insta freezing. So annoying. It will be phase 3 before I get out of phase 1

i feel that this game is knocked back into the beta state.
The new map is horrible, especially the last area. Bugged Textures, zip lines lead to the ground and are unable to use, weird heat rising, misplaced objects and chests, only 1 real loot zone for T5 mats, the car stops all of a sudden on the street, stuck on the smalest object, floating on the skyscraper also lag is back at his finest.

no way i play this on "hard" ._.

As a recently new player, I don't remember a single explanation of anything outside of servers marked "Novice". And even then, it really didn't explain past that, and I somehow ended up on a PvP server originally, by picking what sounded like the most interesting scenario.
