How to stay warm?
Does fur matter in gear material?

Me and my GF built armor out of the same thing, except she freezes to death. Is there something better than Polar Bear Fur? Does it matter/

She only lives 30 seconds, where I'm fine.

Raindeer fur, Tier 1 2 piece rustic, and hold a Torch in the beginning.
Then I transition to seal fur.
raindeer +5 cold resist
seal + 10 cold resist
2 piece rustic +5 resist

Yeah, the furs you use matter a lot this season. Seal skins for your top and pants are probably your best bet unless you wanna spend days farming rare hides like Mountain Buffalo. Making velvet out of Flamingo feathers (you can find those at the amusement park) is also a good early option. Nice thing about Seal skins is that they get more cold resist when wet rather than less. With 20 coal you can make some Heatium that'll give you another +10 cold resist for an hour and running around with the torch raises the temperature by 5. With 45 resistance I was able to run around in -20C without a drop in body temperature.

The chaosium lantern thingy is very effective but it burns through chaosium very quickly considering you only get a small amount from Vultures early on.

You can choose what fur lining to give your armor. Not all pieces have lining that gives cold resistance.
Go through the armor pieces, noting which hides you can use for cold resist. Go get them. Craft them into the armor. Boom, cold resistance.
Carry a torch. It provides warmth when you have it equipped.
Make some Heatium rocks. You just need gravel and charcoal. It provides cold resistance for an hour, then turns back into a Thermium rock which you can then craft with more charcoal to make another Heatium rock.
Look at your recipes. Look for NEW recipes. They are out there and provide better temperature resistance. Use mapgenie.io if you can't find the recipes. It will show you.
Craft the recipes. Eat them. Boom, more cold resistance.
As a veteran player of The Long Dark, the temperature stuff is fuggin' easy to figure out. I've been training for this for years.
Play the game. Don't let the game play you.

The furs do NOT list their cold resistance, but she carries stones and torches. Freezes to death within seconds.

Again, same armor and materials as me.

They DO. Go to your Gear Bench and select desired piece of armor you want to build. Go to required material for that armor, you now see a row of items at least one of the item can be swap for alternative, in our case it will be a fur. Click on the item, it opens a submenu with fur alternatives. And here you go. Have fun and don't freeze.

Cradle > Memetics > Infrastructure > Polar Expedition I > make Thermoium at the supply bench. Make Heatuim from the Thermoium at that same bench. Leave it in your bag. It lasts an hour and is 10 cold resist. Also just queu a couple up so when your rock runs out, you just pick up a heatium off the bench and tell it to reuse your thermoium in your bag.

Add Raindeer fur to your top and leg armor. Then upgrade to Bear or Seal later. These will increase your cold res.

When you need heat res go kill crocs in the wishland zoo.

Besides gear make heat/cool rocks and eat appropriate food.

Allweather stew is buried deep in the memetic tree but gives +30 heat and cold res. No deviated ingredients. Once you can make that you're good. Someone in your hive, if you have one, is probably already making it. Ask them.

In my experience it doesn't seem to matter what furs I use or what my characters' resistance is as the temp plummets way further than my poor character can cope with, and she dies of hypothermia. I hate this new temperature mechanic and have now given up on WoW as a result, I hope you can figure it out as I couldn't..

You sound bugged. Something else is going on besides the fur issue.

It just shows armor perks. Extra damage, sprint, etc.

Only the body and pants get cold/heat resistance. Every other slots (helmet, mask, gloves and shoes) has other bonuses.

Make food, they give between 10-30 cold resist. Eating raw Spikemato gives only 5.

Heatium gives another 10.

Once you unlock All-Weather Stew, temperature is a non-issue. Two pieces of Croc (20 Heat resist) + Stew + Heatium/Coldium allows you to go anywhere no matter what weather. Your cozy range will be -30C to 90C.

Well. I got the seal fur. +10 and a +5 (while wet). Cleared areas no problem.

Phase 2 and the best I get is -25. I can't survive anywhere now. Got my torch out. A heat stone. Lit myself on fire with a Molotov. I've discovered that once you get hypothermia there's no cure.

This game blows harder than whale farts. I'm all for a challenge, but this isn't a challenge. It's a race to see howuch you can get done in 30 secs of a teleport tower.
