Where do I find 'leftovers'????
After this update I now need leftovers(leather scraps) to repair my armour for some unknown reason. I thought we would just be able to farm monsters and such to get the stuff by disassembling. But that's not the case.
Why I have to be even asking this question is beyond me. More complexity just for the sake of complexity isn't a very smart way to develop a game. A 5 year old child could figure out how to make things more complex like this. Lets just add rubbish. Real clever! My rant over.

My armour will be worn out soon if I can't find this stuff. Can someone tell me where to find it please?

"dropped gear" [armor pieces] when broken down also gives leftovers. start farming armor crates

Because it's a craftable. Perhaps you should spend 2 minutes looking before ranting here?

I'll do what I like!

And lots of players were having the same problem. The game doesn't explain things.

As far as your opinion is concerned keep it to yourself.

This game deserves all the complaints it's receiving. Because some people don't like it is tough luck!

You will need to unlock Leatherworking in Memetics tree.

Then, you can use hide (including raw hide) to make the leather scraps.

You can get hide from killing animals.

Leather working should unlock both the leather scraps and the velvet - luckily it is only 1 memetic point or I think people would be testy.

Yeah its really dumb adding complexity when there wasnt any needed before for no reason other than to make it more annoying to repair

What's really annoying is you have to go grind some skinnable animals now, to get hides. If you don't get enough rawhide, you have to convert hides into rawhide then rawhide into scraps. Fortunately you do get 2x per hide. Unfortunately you need on avg around 30 to repair all armour. So wait for armour to be very damaged before repairing.

My gripe is 2 fold.

1. As mentioned previously why add the skins layer when it was already complex. You need different material for different tiers of armour. Plus you now have to convert the skins when you return to base or have them take up more storage space.

2. Not one shred of advice or explanation given by the devs before this update. I remember reading something about new animals and new hides. But no mention of different crafting methods or changes to the current system.

I may have missed something when I read the update news. It was a very lengthy article. But this is a complex game as it is and they have endeavoured to make it more complex with this update to challenge players.

The devs of any game should always consider the player first. Is this going to be more challenging or frustrating. One leads to more players getting into the game, the latter just annoys players and they leave.

Thanks for that. We did figure it out eventually. After looking for birds for ages and not finding any, even on the beaches.
