What changes happen when i do this, does my base move too?

The server is what you select when you are joining a scenario. If you want to change to a new world (world/layer/shard) within a server, go to a teleport tower and change to the world you prefer, go to the location you want your base at, and then press B followed by Z to move your base.

There are several worlds in a server. Worlds are just instances of the map within the server. You can freely change worlds to meet up with friends (or enemies).

Some resources like collectible food or deviants may be found easier or in duplicate by just switching worlds. It will not reset your chests and loot though. That resets very 4 hours (server time)

To change your server you would need an invite code or wait till settlement phase of your current scenario (the end of your scenario). If you accept an invite code bear in mind you are starting over. If you reach the end of the scenario you get to take most of your stuff in a spacetime backpack that you can transfer over in limited quantity spending points you get for free to do so.

If you switch to a different world, your base will remain on the world you teleported from unless you manually move it to the new world by placing it again.

On the map - Your base will show up as "greyed out" showing it is on another world.

If you teleport back to your base (whilst on any world other than your home world) then it will still work but will also auto switch you back to your own world when doing a home TP

Not directly. You can however save your base's layout as a blueprint via the build menu and then rebuild it during future seasons once you have enough mats again.
