Lava Fishing broken?

A few weeks ago, I did some lava fishing and caught a few things, to satisfy the tasks on my one character. When the new phase hit, I tried to go fishing in the same spot as before and it tells me that I can't fish here. Did something break in the new patch? Or, is there only very specific spots that you can fish at now? If it is the latter, where are they?

I have the same problem and I wonder why there is still no information about it.

same issue. have advanced fishing rod. been to all suggested location. wont let me fish.

Lava fishing is broken for me also. I have the advanced pole with bait equipped and continue to receive the "can't fish here" message at any lava site. Tried many different spots.

Ah so it is a bug in this patch.... no wonder I couldn't fish in lava

You can still lava fish, but you need to be at a location that is both wide and deep. Took a few tries but I had no problem Lava fishing after that patch. Some of the previously convenient spots are no longer possible because they are not deep enough.
