Also make sure your armor have cold resist too.
Raindeer is good for the beginning then use seals hide later for cold resislt.
There's a temperature gauge under your minimap.
It will show you the temperature you feel in the number.
You can change the temperature you feel (surrounding temperature) by having tactical items such as heat or cold stone, air conditioner, heater, lamp or barrier. Some of these need specilization to craft. I call it "temperature you feel" because everyone will not see the same number in the same place if they don't have the exact same set up. You can also carry torch and frozen pike to help increase the temperature you feel.
You can also place your tent to survive the extreme temperature. It will gives you resistant boost and you will not die from it (HP will stop reduce from the effect at 1, I don't know if this has changed since I don't have temp issue in a long long time).
And the color on the gauge indicates if you can tolerate it or not.
If the arm is within the grey area then you're perfectly fine.
If the arm falls into the light red or light blue, that means you mildly lack heat or cold resistant respectively. Your body temperature will slowly drop until you get status effect and then you'll start losing HP.
If the arm falls into the strong red or strong blue, that means you severely lack heat or cold resistant. You will immediately start losing HP.
You can fix these with gears and foods.
All Weather Soup is currently the best food to have. It's easy to cook too. But it take water buff slot so you'll lose stamina/speed/double jump buff having this.
There will be a few type of skin/hide that offer different amount of heat or cold resistant. They only work on your Top and Bottom part.
Beware of Chaos Weaver as they will increase or decrease temperature in the wide area around it drastically. If the weather changes or you get wet, the temperature changes too.
This game won't survive stupid design like this. There is no way a casual or new player has any clue what any of this ♥♥♥♥ means and theres no way to know when the CW is gone and you can play again. I can't believe for a second anyone in the DEV team didn't see how stupid this was.
If by the third week, the player isn't ready with gear, food, and stone, then the fault is on the players.
Plus the devs already released a map with all CW locations.
I can only guess at how many players have left this game but I believe the number would be huge. And mostly due to these ridiculous weather dynamics. The server wipes don't help either but this game is clear on that issue.
The weather is something the player learns about the hard way.
Its unfortunate but it is expected for you to have some knowledge of the game before doing way of winter. With that said, the quality level of the gear does not matter when it comes with the weather. You need to craft your gear with the right type of hide, feathers or whatever to stave off the cold and heat. The stones and food should come after that.
The cold is a bit easier to survive. Usually just armor with cold resist is enough. The heat can require more to survive.
I personally hate the weather system in Winter. It is poorly designed and not well though out. There is much in the Winter scenario you can say the same about. After playing the winter scenario I can't wait to jump back to Manibus.
If you still have any interest in the game I would suggest going to a Manibus (PVE) or one of the PVP scenarios. They offer a much better experience than Way of Winter and do not have a hot cold mechanic.
