What makes me iffy about this is how they said they do not want to nerf any gear but to increase environmental challenges.

There were already videos on YouTube with a sniper rifle with a ricochet, it had very good DPS but the build was tied to upgraded turrets. Moreover, the turrets dealt 100+k damage if they hit a weak point.
