Help me understand oil vs polluted water

When i first set up base in Oblivion, I got purely polluted water, never oil.. Has that been fixed with the recent patch? Now I seem to get 50/50 at best? Some people claim that the height of the pump placement has a say too?

I'd like to know this as well. I tried to set up an oil farm in the super-heavily polluted (180) zone in the nortwesternmost corner of the map but I have no idea about which variables I should be considering for perhaps a better spot/results.

if you are in a dual Zone you get 1 time Oil and 1 time Polluted water,but not at the same time as you will half your Production from both so as first you get 4 Polluted Water and then 5 Minutes later 1 Oil and so on it switch every 5 Minutes,So that mean to get enough you need a lot of Waterpumps if not it will be very slow for both

Not sure what it is to be in a dual zone? The first week it was 100% polluted water, but now we get oil too

upgraded towers in your range can influence what you are pumping(water/oil/acid)
