Using a whistle
I have a tame animal and crafted a whistle, but when I use it, nothing happens. Has anyone got this to work?

I couldn't get this to work last season either. I had 3 animals at 100% tameness. I tried to enter in "battle" status with wild pigs and nothing happened when I blew it then either.

You have to let them out of their pen afterwards lol - once theyre fully tamed, they can run around, and when you summon them, they come to you

I think it's still only within bounds of your house/territory.

Pretty sure its also certain pets that allow you to summon them but idk i havent managed yet.
