Cold resist & notifications
Maybe its just me, just started way of winter a few days ago... but Im often finding it annoying or difficult to stay alive in cold weather.

I have 2pc cold resist gear, heatium, and ate the spikemato food for cold resist. Im level 23 and just died in a few seconds once I entered Onyx Tundra.

What am i missing here?? I thought at minimum the 2pc resist gear would be enough... then heatium and the food. Nope. Dead.

Would it be too much of an ask for a tooltip on the map that shows the recommended heat resist that you should have so know what to expect?

I've found that the white section of my temperature gauge has gotten smaller today, despite nothing changing on my end. I have 30 cold resist from my armor alone but I'm getting cold at -11?

Taking off my armor doesn't change the gauge, neither does putting it back on. I'm wondering if they have somehow broken the cold resist values on armor and they are no longer counting.

Same here... as lvl 50 everything against cold and still dying very fast in lvl 1-10 areas EVEN in my base close to lava i have -10°C. Game is f.....d off i guess. Devs are more focused on bring in skins and useless events.

I also noticed having the Chaosium lantern does nothing either. I was at -20 in one area and the lantern didn't increase the temperature despite it being equipped and me having everything on me. I just find it strange that a few days ago everything was fine, but now nothing seems to work as it should.

Especially when my "Cozy" temperature is supposed to be between -10 and -30 but when I hit -11 suddenly I'm freezing to death.

Before the last patch, but after when they added "select" to fertilizer crafting which crashed the "Apple" market :)

I submitted a support ticket confirming that my Tier II gear (top & pants) crafted with either Bear skin or sealskin which should provide 20 cold resist only provided 10 (obv not working properly and I tried all combinations, e.g. 2 sealskin and 2 Bear skin). Yet when I added a Tier II piece I made with Deer skin (5 cold resist), I had 15 cold resist (working properly). At the time I didn't have enough feathers/velvet nor did I feel like wasting my resources on what should be "their dime" so to speak.

I believe I saved all those armor pieces and if I get a chance I'll pop(sicle) in and retest them.

To clarify, your gear level is irrelevant towards heat/cold resist. What matters is what you selected when you crafted your gear.

I am finding this cold weather malarky tedious tbh, enjoyed the first season but this falling down dead from the cold, or better yet freezing in my car has had me thinking come back next scenario and just bin this one entirely

I logged off last night at my home and everything was fine. I was able to go anywhere "normal" with the armor I had and not worry about freezing unless something drastic happened. But now the following morning I can't even go to one side of my room without freezing to death at -11 despite the cozy zone being between -10 and -30.

I just feel like the armor resists have stopped working. Unless you are expected to make new armor every day, since it seems like making another piece fixes the issue albeit temporarily. The white gauge changes to reflect that its working, but then at some point it just doesn't work anymore.

It is tedious but when asked to provide feedback to the developers, I said I wished the game leaned more into survival mechanics than it does mmorpg style systems.

The frustrations could be alleviated by a notation on the map when you hover over an area and it says the recommended level, it should also state the recommended cold/heat resist too.

Maybe a countdown from 30s to notate hypothermia. A 5 second notification that pops up that you dont see half the time because youre fighting mobs or whatever...and then BAM youre losing 5% hp every second is trash.

I.E. More visual queues and information so we know whats going on.

And agree with other posts, I think the resist statistics in your gear page and/or the temp gauge is bugged and not working.

it's likely been bugged for awhile as i was having random issues with my gear for about a week before the update and now suddenly im freezing to death in my own house because somehow it's gotten super cold outside and my gear has decided to not help at all...unless im stood near a heat source then i die slower....something is broken as heck with the armour resists and got worse as of todays update.

You need to manually turn on the Chaosium Lantern.
You also need sufficient chaosium in your inventory to fuel the Chaosium Lantern.

Chaosium Lantern works, it's just super costly (At least at launch, supposedly the cost have been reduced, haven't tried it since)

You'll get better foods to help with the changing of the temperatures later on, for example - i like to stick with all weather stew and bundle that with the lantern and thats usually enough to negate the insane temperature differences, but I agree, the they need to tweak the settings a bit more to get it right, and that the starting regions shouldn't be colder than Antartica or the dark side of the moon.

I would also like to mention though that if there is a chaosweaver in the location you're trying to access, that it could also affect the temperature dramatically.
