You Are Not The Owner
I have raided some chests in environmental territory and when I go to repair the weapon and armor at my gear station a message says I can't repair because I'm not the owner. So, I legit raided the chest, it was in a quest area, no one else was around, so why am I not the owner of the weapon and armor?

Being able to either repair the item or dismantle it to learn the craftable version of the item would be great..the more people that comment about this on there forums, discord and twitter accounts may make them change things...

I like that idea.

Let people be able to dismantle and learn some of the necessary knowledge to craft the item.

Haven't seen this brought up, but another use for the dropped non-repairable guns: as you get higher in loot level, you'll find dropped blue and purple weapons with alternate calibration perks. When you disassemble these, you get a blueprint for the new calibration perks, and then you can replace the perks on your built weapons with these alternate kits.

Also more good news: if you've put resources into calibrating an item, and then disassemble it, you get a fair amount of those resources back (including the star resource, I forgot the name)

Is hitting a rock or tree all day long what I want to do and look forward to when I play, NO.

It's a survival/crafting game. Common sense is that will be a huge part of it. Have you not played many games in this genre before? And by that, I mean without others doing all the gathering for you and you.

Why can't I repair an item I found that I've equipped and been using? Seems dumb.

This needs to change. It's ridiculous

Nope, your entitlement is ridiculous.

This actually has more to do with their gacha system than anything, especially since player trading of weapons is disabled.

The company does not want you invalidating their gacha blueprints because it's the seasonal mechanic that you will be farming over and over again for upgrades. Blueprints do not come from anywhere else. Once you get the 1 time free exploration blueprints, you won't get anymore freebies. It all comes from the wish machine. The wish machine uses a limited currency that is time gated by weeks and by seasons.

So to force you to appreciate the value of their gacha system, you are not allowed to use farmed loot. You have to make it yourself.

Now consider all the stuff that can happen to your character in the game that you would not survive in real life. Stop trying to apply real life logic to a video game. Good grief.

Good grief is right.

Its a ridiculous concept, and Its a completely needless and pointless mechanic that exists just to make a need for another deviant.

If i find it, i own it. I shouldnt be unable to repair it because internet trolls who like to argue about nothing say "but but , its a game not real life".
Your logic is way off. Applying what you said you in fact would NOT be able to properly repair a rifle without knowledge of it. When you loot an item you can't make you have no idea how that item works. Knowing how to build something is essential to knowing how to repair it.

You can repair them in the repair UI on the same table you crafted them. Maybe you dont have enough materials?
Pinkeh 25 JUL 2024 a las 11:02
drops from dungeons can't be repaired. but the ones you crafted from the bench can unless u dont have enough materials.

You must not have the materials needed. It's stated on the repair screen what you need to do so. If it says you're not the owner than you didn't craft it. That applies to items you know how to craft but you picked up.

this is clearly a BUG.. i crafted the weapon, its NOT a drop and i have already repaired it once, but now its says: you are not the owner...blabla...

i have encountered so many bugs that cripple my play its not fun anymore
Garnorix 29 JUL 2024 a las 9:12
Yeah i think you picked up the same weapon as the one you had and it's giving you the issue. I haven't seen another person with that issue yet in the 150ish hours i've played.
