It does have a point. At character creation the body shape you choose affects your game. Heavier builds can carry more but are a bit slower in melee attacks. Lighter build also affect your game. I like the idea of bulking up a bit more to be able to carry more stuff. I think it is a very clever and innovative game mechanic.
Back in CBT2 this was a mechanic players were constantly dealing with. It has since been nerfed into the ground so much that I haven't heard anyone mentioning dramatic weight changes since then. I don't think players even realized it still existed in CBT3 or the demo. You must have really screwed up.
I will say this (since you mentioned slider settings in a later post) - this game does not save slider settings accurately to begin with. Set something to 50, for example, and come back to the setting later before finalizing your character's appearance and you'll see it's moved to 49 or 51. Almost nothing stays where you set it; most people just don't notice. It's a bug they've never fixed.
Why is this mechanic a thing but magicly our clothes and skins don't instant explode when adding 40kg of mass and tripple the size of the toon?
I can't imagine how you gain weight sprinting 12+ hours a day while only eating 3 steaks, an egg, 2 oranges and drinking a lot of water. This is so stupid and I hope they change this dogwater mechanic.
There are foods that help you gain weight, and foods that help you lose weight. These foods are clearly marked as such in their tooltip descriptions.
You really only need to eat once you lose your "full" status buff (sprinting buff for drinking, for example). This typically happens at around 66% fullness. You should not be cramming filling foods down when you are 80% full, for example.
If you are mindful of this and still experiencing dramatic weight changes you should report that as a bug. I have managed to keep my character at the same weight for weeks on end so I know it's possible. You should not be 60kg when you log off and then log back in and find yourself at 100kg. If you are certain that's what happened then you should report it as a bug; obviously it's not meant to work that way.
maybe its a more popular mechanic for the desired audience: Asia.
or maybe they're trying to copy other survival games (scum) altho that game is struggling and that mechanic doesn't exactly draw a player base
Different weight classes come with different advantages and disadvantages. Mouse over the body icon on the bottom right (?) of your character screen to see them. The game is just providing you with the means to move between each weight class.
Nearly all the interesting mechanics in this game have been gutted or removed because of players who can't tolerate depth or complexity. It doesn't need to be made any more generic or simple than it already is.
i mean if anyone likes money and is in charge, they should remove this 'get fat' feature. or make it a toggle option. or send out a free treadmill in the mail as a dev apology if you really wanna get cute about it.
This argument isn't going to land like you think it is since they also sell the ability to modify your body shape.
