The game allows friends to connect buildings
Just wanted to showcase and appreciate the fact that the game unlike any other games I've played before allows friends to build 2 separate buildings and connect them (if built close to the boundary)

I think this and some other similar mechanics such as the house blueprint is what makes "Once Human" so unique.

P.S I shared a screenshot of the same that you can find in the screenshot section if anyone's curious. I'm a seasoned builder as well and if anyone wants to come check us out feel free to join the PvE01-00002 SouthEast Asian server :)

You can, but there is a risk to this, as I found out after doing something similar with my friends back during one of the closed beta tests.

While this scheduled action was paused as part of the last patch, at different points in the season Starry Studios usually performs world merges to counter dwindling population on the server as players activity drops. If your house/territory is colliding with another territory as a result of the merges, then all the involved territories are removed and have to be redone.

At that point the now-empty territories are first-come first-serve. Assuming no one drops a claim where your territory used to be, you can simply put your territory terminal back down and the game will show you a holographic blueprinted version of your home (which will return intact when you confirm the placement). So far so good, right? However, this is where the problems start.

For example, let's say you have two territories side-by-side, and at the border one of you has built the "left" side of a house. What's great is that as the other player is laying down their foundations and walls, they will snap to the your structure at the shared border, allowing them to build out the "right" side of the house in a way that perfectly connects as one seamless home which crosses two territories. Perfect, right?

Fast forward to the server merge and having to place your territories down again. The issue is your individual blueprints no longer have the original "snap" advantage that you enjoyed during the original building process. And so, no matter how hard you try, you are not going to be able to line them back up again perfectly. The floors from the left house will not be level with the floors from the right house, etc., and it ends up being a mess. Also, the game will force you to delete anything from the first house that is touching the shared border before it will even allow your friend to place his blueprint down for the second house, otherwise it complains about structures crossing territory boundaries.

So, if you have four friends creating a giant house this way at the touching corners of your adjacent territories, three of you are going to have to rebuild your respective chunks from scratch every time there's a merge that impacts one of the involved territories. This mess also happens if one of you doesn't log in for a week (as the game deletes that player's territory due to inactivity).

Needless to say, next time (if there is a next time.. none of my group really want to play Once Human anymore in its current state), we'll stick with individual houses.

I see. That is indeed bothersome. Thank you for your insight, I'll keep this in mind before moving further into the season.
