What's so special about Skyrim; an action RPG that's been rehashed so many times I wouldn't be surprised you have 10 different versions of it now in order for the dev to milk more money out of the SAME FRIGGIN GAME... in which everyone ends up playing stealth archer anywyas because it deals the most dps and is the most braindead...
There's nothing special about games these days.... mainly because every dev needs to play it safe because their boardmembers and shareholders need to see that line go up....
or.. at least that's what I'm assuming they're inspired by since the word "SCP" is censored in the ingame chat lol.
Like you're not allowed to draw comparisons.
People are playing it because it's free, fun, and casual. It hits alot of the spots people like in games, the question is why are so many people worried about what others are doing with their time, they like it, you don't it's really not a big deal.
Because Skyrim is good. They would of remade oblivion but can't and Skyrim was made 7 times. People still play it.
If you don't understand the draw, then the game is not for you. Go play Throne and Liberty.
As for Skyrim, sure it wasn't groundbreaking, but it's definitely a classic. And the reason it's still relevant these days is because of mods, I won't deny that. But what made Skyrim so good was it's art direction. So many things are visually iconic from that game.
But I completely agree with you about game devs playing it safe these days. The reason Larian got away with so much when it came to Baldurs Gate 3 is because they're a privately owned company, so they could do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ the wanted when it came to developing that game, and it's all the better for it.
The more you play, the more you notice how lazy the game is.
Survival MMO, with different types of weird enemies, interesting character build system, slightly randomized progression that promotes teamwork, and a wipe system that keeps everything you've earned.
Seems anything but generic.
