How to gather logs

At the beginning of the game I get stucked gathering resources because the game doesnt let me gather logs. Can someone help?

What do you mean, it doesn't let you ?
Just go near a tree and press F, It should allow you to gather wood, even without a dedicated collect tool.

Go to a tree and press f. It will hit it with a rock. If it said you don't have a tool then open your inventory with button I, in the first tab you might have an pickaxe. Drag it on your bars and try again.

At last.. are you in eternal land mode? I don't think you can farm trees in eternally land.. to get back to normal land press escape and exit eternal land bottom left

When I go close to the tree it doesnt do anything when I press f. It seems eternal land mode is locked for me

I have same issue too. Was able to collect dirty water, but can't collect logs and gravel

You could always go to the docks at Meyer's Market and catch a beaver who will fetch wood for you. I found they spawn quite frequently.

This does not sound like a solution to problem. It's clearly a bug.
Tried to restart game, reboot pc, unstuck and kill character. Created new one on new server, changed key from F to other - nothing work. Can't progress even with begining of the game.
Real blocker.

Downloaded update, created new character - still same issue. Any ideas?

Bug or you don't have axe on your quickbar.

I do have axe, however, it should allow gather even without the axe
