All in all, use what feels fun I guess.
In terms of short fights, Shrapnel builds blow things up quick.
In terms of long fights, the purple fire shotgun vulnerability stacking builds demolish boss health bars with no contested equal.
The game does nothing to describe what it is you're even supposed to do. Sub menus of menus that take you to all manner of reward screens that aren't needed and take too much time to navigate.
Everything about this clown show seems meant to frustrate the player. Ffs, you can even upgrade the upgrades to your weapon upgrades. Like ...WHY? Then...just when you start making some progress, the game starts crashing. Can't have Steam overlay enabled with Ryzen/GTX rigs ir you won't even enter the game. Meaning you can't actually buy anything like Battle Pass.
I built a stone base. I'm a Rust General...5k hours. So I build and then put ONE level one purple thingy into the star chamber thingy to do a base defense. I did this at level 10. It gave me about 30 level 15 enemies and one elite. They destroyed my whole STONE base.
For any mission, you better bring 2k bullets....and you'll still run out. It makes zero sense to have enemies in all regions jump to your level every time you move up. Why bother? The game never allows you to actually feel like you're powerful.....at all.....ever. The moment I crafted the SN 700, all enemies suddenly take three shots to the head to kill. Before that, on same level, my first crossbow was one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
To top all of that off, every single mission somewhere takes far too long...on purpose. There's so much going on in the environment with things EVERYWHERE, and then the developers decided to hide every top tier box in the absolute worst locations. I don't want to play tomb raider and figure out puzzles to get my reward ffgds. The hospital is the worst offender. Many of these crates are placed in such out of the way, barely inaccessible locations, that its tantamount to finding tin needle in a stack of aluminum ones. The map is so large that I cannot see how anyone could make it to endgame in 6 weeks.
Idk...I do like many aspects of this game, but there's so much going on that the devs of Warframe would be jelly. Get rid of about ten menus, all events, and make things a bit easier to follow. Idk WTAF I'm supposed to be doing besides following a yellow diamond around the map with five thousand rounds that do little damage.
The game needs to find out what it actually IS rather than this hodgepodge of other games made to look fancy with odd enemies.
Rust, is by far, many times better. As is DayZ...and every other game this Chinese knockoff stole from. Thankfully it's free, but cannot understand the hype of this mess at all. Too grainy to be any fun and even when you grind, you've zero idea what you're supposed to even do with what you've found.
Rant over, carry on.
Not really. Just keep your gear relatively up-to-date and, as a general rule, put the bullets in your target. Rosetta drops gunpowder, Deviants drop Acid. Most Deviants are easy to melee down if you are totally out.
I'm running a frost vortex build with the Abyss Ak. After fully calibrating and getting all the mods for frost I usually keep up with or exceed the dps of any group im in for hard mode content.
I'm running lvl 50 Hard silos in 2-3 minutes due to building around power-surge and crit.
Full-auto shotgun with full range attachments.
Every 20 proc of Power-surge deals 8k damage, everything else is a crit.
You can build what you're comfortable with though.
Shrapnel gets a lot of attention due to being fairly easy to put together early.
Burn is always good, especially for pvp as you don't have any way to deal with status damage and damage over time reliably, and frost vortex is nice for groups of enemies and utility.
I went with burn. I'm not optimized yet, but my burn damage can reach over 900 every half second. Maybe faster due to the BBQ/Grill gloves.
Poor burst, but great on bosses.
Given the vast number of explosives the prime war boss sponges up I'm wondering if a bomber gun might be a better option that tickling it down with explosives since bullets are generally cheaper to make.
Bounce does seem to be the billy no mates of the damage procs and certainly doesn't seem to be something to suit my playstyle of slow and steady.
