The Solar Drill...
Is the solar drill supposed to permanently break when it's durability/charge runs out?
Is there a way to repair the Solar Drill?
Having the Solar Drill be a one-time use tool seems SUPER duper expensive.

no idea maybe it will recharge after it breaks. i have never fully depleted it but dont use it at night. use it during the day and durability never runs out. if the durability does go down wait for it to recharge.

yes it breaks if it runs all the way out
If you leave it alone in your pack it will recharge/repair during the sunlight (you need to be in the sunlight literally in most cases) A message will pop up on your screen

It's kind of bugged, the durability/recharge doesn't always update status properly or glitches and says full on the hotbar and explodes when you go to use it.

Anyways it will give you a visual warning it's going to break if you keep using it (mine started sparking and smoking and it gives Center screen text warning) you can use it a few more time after than and it will break Stop until next daylight cycle and it's brandnew.

However i think that might be attached to the VFX level, might not show on lower setting.

A friend of mine had an issue where they had an old non solar drill in their backpack and the data/code from that replaced the data/code of the solar drill, so it broke within a few uses.

I am not sure if that is what happened with yours, tho my solar drill I use has never broken, even when using it when there is no sun light.

Ive literally never seen this "Warning" and have gone through the durability down to "1" about 40 or so times now.

Maybe it's related to the guidance system, i left on default so it's noob mode, maybe you turned them off?

It's a quick standard text message and if you aren't paying attention probably won't notice it, it doesn't show up more than once, doesn't flash no opaque background (least not on my screen)

What an incredibly ridiculous mechanic. Either the developers are nuts or that's a bug. Could you imagine if everything became broke beyond repair once the battery ran out?

Oh no! What horrible devs!

Just don't use all of the battery, then? The solar drill is ridiculously OP as it is.

That's referred to as "planned obsolescence" and it's a very real thing in many products.

Nobody tell this kid about having to make new tools every time their durability runs out.

Help fix drill bug.
I had the same issue with our hive's solar drills misreading the banner saying it was charged in sunlight and they all broke. My advanced and basic electric drills also have a very short life span this season. The drills take so many mats we are all very familiar how to use use them being our 2nd and 3rd seasons playing. My advanced drill mined less than the electric drill so don't know what is happening there.

We wasted mats on one 12 solar drills, 3 electric, and 2 advanced electric. Many of us are using the pick or have mining platforms now. It's the day after your big update.....FIX this BUG please.

This is a comment to my reply above.....
All but two solar drills and one electric were used to mine in full sunlight at all times where the player houses are located. That is also where I charged my solar drill since I live in pollution but the fully charged banner wrongly stated it was charged before I teleported home to mine right outside my door, the 5 star source nodes then it broke.

Yes.

Arguably, with the amount of time the sky is raining or night or cloudy since things were patched, you're better off doing an improved drill. You can still have one with treasure hunter, but it can't be bought from a vendor.
