That's a friend code, not like the others. It needs to get put into a different place.
1. Press "F3" on your keyboard.
2. Go to the "Event" tab.
3. Click "Accept Invitation".
4. Enter the code and bind

That should get you the free weapon and an experience boost till level 30.
