Why Once Human is a Disappointing and Short-Lived Game
I doubt the developers will ever see this unless it's discussed on Discord, but I can't post there without risking a ban or removal.

Once Human is a dead-on-arrival game, and here's why: First, you lose all progress after six weeks. Second, it's not group-friendly despite appearances. Sharing a base with a friend is impossible unless they join your base, and even then, they are forced to have their own separate base. The quests are repetitive, and the bosses have poor mechanics. There is no clear goal in this game; you move from marker to marker, scavenging for resources and hoping to gather enough energy to craft and progress. It feels like one of those Facebook games where you need energy to do anything.

Once Human is a disappointing game that won't last beyond six weeks. It's boring, and the puzzles are uninteresting. Today was the last day my friend and I will play; we've decided it's not fun and a waste of time. You can collect all the shiny items you want, but you won't get to keep them. I don't understand this model – you keep nothing and have to start over repeatedly to obtain items you can't retain. Yet, thousands of people are playing. I won't be one of them. I'm off to find a better game. The future of video games looks bleak to me.

Man I love this game. Ya'll be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ too much without actually understanding what the reset is about.
For a f2p game, this is a banger.

The wipe issue could be easily resolved by allowing players to delete their characters, which would automatically wipe out their bases. Instead, the developers force you to sign up for a new server because they haven't even coded the ability to delete characters. This leaves behind abandoned bases from players who drop in, set up, and then leave.

You grind to level 50, build your base, gather resources, and prepare for the next season. But once Season 2 begins, players start abandoning the server to look for a fresh one. This leaves you with a server full of empty bases, and you're forced to start the entire process over again with Season 3. It’s clear the developers have no idea what they’re doing.

Just deleted the game as I don’t want to repeat everything again.. and again and again. Same boring quests.. same building.. same low quality mobs

Most of them look to be from bots and compromised accounts. Many post and never return to the thread or ever clarify anything other than the same tired responses. Many posts are completely ignoring base game mechanics or exaggerate things to make up problems. There is a dedicated effort to create negative press on this game, likely from a rival game maker. Or simply as a way to farm points.

For a game that is "dying", there seem to be plenty of players who have been consistently playing after week 4. If the game really was dying, there would be nobody left to make these posts since the majority of servers are after week 6.

The OP has been posting their negative opinion about the game, several times a day, since the middle of July, where they already hit endgame, but find the game both too difficult, and lacking complexity. For 6 weeks they have been singing doom and gloom about the game, but are still supposedly playing it at the higher levels. They have a long history of posting here, but somehow their messages are "being deleted"... Which ones?

I’d never start a post with such a long introduction for a game that I want to leave... Please! Don't leave Once Human! I don't like this wipe thing either, but let's see how this rolls out!

In Season One, each week brings a new phase, unlocking fresh areas to explore. As the season ends, you find yourself without enough fragments to upgrade your blueprints. You've managed to gather the essentials for your armor and weapons, but you didn't fully complete the season, soloing the toughest challenges is nearly impossible without top-tier gear.

Now, Season Two begins. You keep your blueprints and currency, but you’re being evicted from the server in 30 days. You have to sign up for a new server and move.

After the move, you're back at level 1, but your blueprints are intact. You face two choices: take the long way or the short way to level up. It's like starting Season One all over again for 30 days until Season Two officially starts. Once more, you're scraping by, barely gathering enough fragments to upgrade your blueprints, only to end up right where you started.

The upside? You earn more Starchrome and Matsuko coins. But, in the end, you're still doing it all... over... again.

You didn't manage two sentences without being wrong.

most people are B!tching about the reset, b/c, they cant bring all their sh!t with em. so they start bashing on the game, saying its dead/dying/etc. they lack reading comprehension, or dont want to understand the patch notes or how a reset really works. i think those people need to be forced to play Diablo 2 seasonal on hardcore mode.
Seawied 24 ago. 2024 às 10:22
You have two sides of this argument:

The people that HATE the 6-week reset, and the people who TOLERATE it.

This isn't a genre like AARPGs like Diablo 2 which focus on different types of character builds. AARPGs like Diablo 2 have dozens of different ways to build each character class, and several different character classes to try out, which is why they work in a seasonal ladder.

In Once Human, all our characters are exactly the same. It's just a repetitive grind. The 6 week reset is simply rolling a stone up a hill again and again.

I, for one, will be uninstalling the game in season 2 and not playing it again.

The fan boys who aggressively berate people who are feel the same are also doing a fantastic job of destroying the community.

Unless a significant course correction is made by the developers (and the community), Once Human is going to be an esoteric punch line used by game journalists.

I may read up on this game in 8 months to see if the developers pull their heads out of sand and listen to the thousands of people who have been telling them the exact same thing since launch.

The wipe is supposed to refresh the gameplay and servers, but the truth is that this mechanic is here to hide how little a game has to offer.

Why do people keep posting misinformation? You do not lose all progress.
