Any way to avoid the seemingly full arena Shadow hound 1 shot aoe attack?

shoot the ball, there's a meter under his health bar, drain that bar by shooting the ball and it knocks him out of it.

oh okay, thank you, i actually beat him by just tanking the aoe attack and using my adrenaline shots but its good to know.
