How i fixed this game force restarting my PC

So ever since launch day i had an issue with this game where i could run it for maybe 5 minutes or so before it would freeze up my entire PC, crash the application, and then forcefully restart the computer. This issue has persisted since launch of the title and i knew it wasn't hardware related as i've played previous beta tests and have upgraded since then to better hardware


What i noticed in Event Viewer from all these forced restarts/crashes is an error with GameInput Service. the error reads as follows:

"The compound file GameInput Service was produced with a newer version of storage."

the service then terminates and that initiates the PC restart.

if you're someone in this same boat i have a fix for you, this is applicable for Win10/11 users.

chances are you have multiple GameInput Services running, and the following guide will take you through the steps needed to correct it and that in turn should allow you to run the game fine.

I am now running the game perfectly fine with 0 hiccups, and have been enjoying it immensely so far.
