Claiming the Oil Pumps

How do you claim the Oil pumps? WITHOUT doing the war stuff. Everywhere I look i people keep saying stuff like " you need to be in a warband and bid on the territory and yadda yadda" but There are still pumps, occupied by people, producing oil and such, but the region is very much still in a neutral state.

Are these people abusing bugs? Is there some point in the quest i haven't got to that gives you a window to have one active for free? It's getting frustrating rofl.

heres a better solution, unlock water pumps and find a patch of ground that has black shiny terrian thats crude oil. place down your water pumps to extract crude oil, for every 10 crude you get 5 portable fuel, for every 50 port you get 1 premium fuel. My home in Desert region after going to bed i wake up to each of my water pumps having 160ish Crude oil. also with a bit of effort you can build foundations ontop of the pumps after you place them so you can have fully enclosed secured oil factory on your base location. i dont play pvp so ppl cant just loot my pumps, but i was told on pvp ppl can loot your containers.

Certainly good info and appreciated, but i was more interested in this because of the idea of defending it against other players ~_^

I would also like to know how to claim the pumps, the game doesn't tell you how.

Within the PVE servers the oil pumps/flag on the map that says "attack" can't be taken over, it is only within PVP servers you can do that.

In the betas those are PVP zones and if someone's Hive and or Warband I think takes control of it, they can get oil, acid and I think Starchrom, my self I never messed with it to much, well taking it over, I randomly just stole from the pumps and got shot at a few times.

I’m in a PvP server, and you have to be in a hive to take over the oil rigs, what
You have to do is find an unoccupied one and Press B than it should give you the option to build a ( security equipment ) which you can place. Once you do you are able to build foundations and turrets etc

You have to win the territory first. After the victory you will have access to the "Security Equipment" for construction, located next to the oil pump.
