Everything automated is slower then manually farming.
Farming anything in this game is way faster to go out and collect it yourself then actually using the logging/mining platforms, the barrels to ferment acid, the grow plots to grow food. All these methods take a painstaking long time to produce just one thing.

Not only is the ore detector for the mining platform is completely useless it even tells you the wrong thing that it shows. My detector shows tung/cop/iron but my platform is mining sulf/tin/alum. Doesn't even work. Also we should be able to put these mining platforms on the turbo truck so we can actually go looking for 4bar deposits, similar to No man Sky.

I can fast travel to any settlement and grab a ton of corn and beets then switch worlds and do it all over again. There just no point in growing food unless you are specifically targeting a recipe. I just don't see the point in dealing with the water pumps that sometimes work and sometimes don't work.

The fermenting just takes way too long. 20 minutes per barrel per 1 acid. 10w of power for a barrel? When did fermenting in real life take electricity? Last time I checked you need Yeast to ferment, so why is that not something we can make? We have wheat and water. Just remove this ridiculous power consumption from the barrels and do it right.

I can go up one road and loot cars by the time I produce 1 barrel of gas. I can triple my amount of gas by looting cars then actually pumping it and processing it. Also the super refinery specialization is WORTHLESS!!! Who would want to trade in their acid for fuel? That makes no sense since acid is way more valuable then fuel.

The specializations are way to dependent on farming as well. Especially getting the right one for power for the base. I just feel the game has a skewed number for the power output on all these machines/defenses. The game needs to balance this out.

End game should be about automating these resources on a high scale. You get to the bottom of the tree and these things cost so much power but do nothing. Or they just don't work or buggy.

Except water purification.

But I do agree. And after the fix to acid drops in previous testings, even acid is easier to farm manually than using machines.

Yeah... The fermentation barrel needing 10w was pretty weird. I made a brewery so I mass produce Ale and it is painful to manage the power requirements. I had to make a whole system of buttons to isolate power grids so I would have power to the things I needed to use when I needed them. It's way too much work for very very little and it takes so long too and Wheat will rot inside the barrel before it finishes fermenting.

The numbers just don't make a lot of sense. If they want to add power for whatever reason it should absolutely not be 10w.
Having 4 irrigation systems consumes more water than 2 filters can produce too so that's yet another set of buttons I need to manage.

acid farming is just passive but i have to agree with the plant farming its so slow i can go to corn fields and wheat fields and get so much more in 5 mins then waiting for my crops to sprout
i have the super refiner perk and use it to refine low grade fuel into hi grade but couldnt put oil into it.

This sort of thing has been a problem all throughout development. Things were in a good spot about 7 months ago, but after CBT2 the developers seem to have only two modes when it comes to balance: either everything is overturned to the extent of trivializing content, or undertuned to the point where it might as well not even exist. There is no happy medium with these guys.

Morel Mushrooms for 6666% food, Pepper Corn for Preserved Deviated Chops (acid food). It's worth the wait, I am making stacks of 50 each per crop. I have so many I am just selling it in a vending machine, and live on fruit teas and acid chops. Outside of rare materials like those passive production is worthless. Trust me once you have 20+ plots growing nothing but rare ingredients you'll see real fast that those are not quicker to go farm.

Automation and processing is so mid that we've been recommending everyone on the server that enjoys that kind of gameplay to go try Satisfactory and Factorio.

I mean...if youre alone then sure. But groups are using a single base so I can just put a small square with 4 pumps and 8 facilities, getting me almost 2k/day

You're doing it all wrong. That's why your production sucks. It's a player driven economy. You can corner the market on a few things but not EVERYTHING. Passive acid farms done correctly easily make 1k a day. Which is more than enough. Once you get going after the 2nd phase. You should have any acid issues or high consumption. Take the time to figure out what you're doing.

And I keep seeing everyone wanting things from other games to be implemented. Idk why everyone wants clones of game after game. If you like that feature on the other game. Go play that instead. This game is the first different from all the rest game that's came out in a while and everyone's trying to turn it into the same crap we've continously been getting from other games. Next yall are gonna wanna fall from the sky and pick up guns and ammo for pvp servers.

i think thats kinda the point of the automated items they are there to supplement your play threw, not be your endless supply mechanic

Automation being slower is better for the over world because you can't just afk sit in a base and get stuff which is what killed Warlord's of Dreanor (WoW)'s overworld experience. Still providing encouragement for people to go out there and do stuff means you see other people walking around which is a key point of a multiplayer sandbox game.

while i agree, i think this is for balancing reasons: passive stuff is slower.
i don't even farm acid actively, i have 8 pumps and 2 barrels, and at week 4 i have 5800 acid surplus. i make a lot of tungsten, and other stuff that requires acid.
6500 portable fuel
1800 refined fuel
i think if you play the game and set up a good farm, you can manage.
