Why implement a roll when you can't dodge anything with it?
Why? I played a lot of souls game (beaten the newest DLC btw) and I have this boss who is level 40 and when I dodge the moment he attacks it doesn't work. I am 36 and I get hit once and I go down on the floor. If I could dodge then that wouldn't be a problem, but I can't. It's frustrating since it is a missed opportunity.

yeah there are no i-frames with it unfortunately. if there were it'd probably need a cooldown, but still it is pretty meh as is. i've escaped a couple ground indicators with it but that's about it
To be honest, it kinda bothers me that games have iframes with rolling to begin with.

I always figured that you would actually dodge an attack, not pretend you dodged it with some DDR timed dance gameplay.

It's a development crutch. They end up making enemies without clear area of effect on attacks, and poor collision, and then say, welp throw iframes on a dodge.
You can? I alway dodge exploding spiders and and other things this way.

I found that if you go on an elevation even the smallest one then that stomp "wave" will go below it. I am not saying that it works all the time because i am only lvl 35 but it works.

With the cradle override you can at least get a good bit of damage reduction - and it does seem faster than just running.

yeah good tip. Sometimes you can jump over or duck under them but when there's like 4 in a row glhf lololol

Exploding spiders have a relatively small aoe radius, the suzy side vultures is much bigger and with their habit of appearing, cackling and going pop in very rapid succession the dodge roll is worthless as a way to get clear since the radius does seem to be much bigger.
Well if roll does nothing I guess I don't have to worry about being a fatty fat fat and will continue to live my best life
since a lot of enemies have homing projectiles it makes sense that dodge roll could help you to avoid them having iframes

I've saved myself from explosive damage many times by being in animation of rolling or melee attacking something. But doesn't seem to work for any projectile. I just started using roll to get close to enemies and kill them quickly because the ai is dumb and they get confused.
