The game is good and has great potential. My thoughts
I haven't played very long yet, so if some of this changes further you get in the game, then great.

1. The enemy AI is too easy. They should see you from much farther away and rush at you. This would allow people to either play this like a stealth game or an action paced shooter, at least when it comes to PVE.

2. Exploration to out of the way places should reward players with a little something special. Think Elden Ring and Breath of the Wild. Always a little something behind each explored corner. It doesn't need to be much.

3. The game has the diverse world ready to be explored, but with just a little manipulation of the terrain, the exploration could be so much better/more rewarding. For example, on the side of a cliff, there could be a small cave entrance hidden by bushes and trees with something inside. Maybe a spirit person that has you play some kind of game. Adding some more places underground would greatly expand the area for exploration.

4. Mini Games that players can get better at with increasing rewards depending on difficulty. Certain kinds of chests or locked doors should require you to play a mini game of some kind. The bigger the reward, the harder the mini game. Something like hacking in EVE online. As you gain experience, you could unlock skills that assist you. This would add just a little more depth/difficulty and additional player interaction. Something else to get good at besides shooting. I don't know much about fishing, but I hope fishing gets more difficult with rare fish.

5. Bases look too good. We should be able to set up ramshackle and/or worn down bases with camouflage. I don't know how this would work with in game physics, but perhaps, if built in a proper location, we could build basements underground or to the side if on a cliff side. I want to be able to make mine hidden with some traps which leads me to my next point. At least let me build a smaller base if I can't have one underground. Smaller stuff, shorter wall, I dunno. The houses right now feel too bulky and polished.

6. I don't know the direction of PVP, but when you activate PVP, it should remain active for a long time. This will add an additional layer of difficulty for the try hards out there or for people that want to feel a thrill. With your base able to be attacked, the ability to camouflage and hide your base would be paramount. Maybe some material like a ghillie suit that you could throw over your base.

7. This could be good or bad depending on your playstyle, but on PVP servers there could be a day or longer where everyone gets flagged for pvp until their first death. I'm guessing bases shouldn't be able to be attacked during this time. Killing players during this time could have increased rewards.

I know some of my suggestions are probably very difficult to implement or just wouldn't be good for the game (just spitballing here with most of it), but at least making the enemies tougher and more aggressive is needed. I can almost run up and melee a guy while he is 10 feet away from another enemy and they don't notice
