I like the burn build because of the DoT stacking. And eating shaved iced would keep that DoT there for a bit longer while I run around and go back to stacking the DoT again.
But if you just wanna go with what everyone else is using, go shrapnel.
I switched over to Unstable Bomber with the DE 50 Jaws (as I was l already building burn as crit) and it beat out my burn build on dummy even with an unoptimized armor set.
I HOPE we will see a big balance patch going into season 2. Some keywords are definitely better than others currently.
I don't think burn sucks.
"Is burn ever gettting stronger?"
use brain dude.
To compare burn with meta builds is kinda dump.
Burn is awesome and viable. The whole holy dps sh!t to heaven videos out there are completely hilarious. Burn in Silos and Prime Wars is awesome. My girlfriend is playing burn and lay back while everything else is burning away while me as a fast gunner trying to get advantage of weakspot while moving and aiming.
next season burn build, looking forward it.
1. Burn as a support status with regular weapon damage as the main damage source. The Dual Fury shotgun is designed for that, but since I don't use shotguns, I can't say how good that is.
2. Burn as main damage source via burn ticks. The Crank assault rifle in combination with the BBQ gloves is designed for that. Considering that both the weapon and the gloves are just purple rarity, you should see that as a budget build, which generally should not out damage builds with legendary weapons and armour.
3. Burn as mechanic to trigger the explosions from the Hardy Gloves. The Boom Boom is designed around that. That makes that setup an AOE clear setup, which is designed to clear many smaller enemies. If you compare the single target damage of a dedicated single target weapon with the single target damage of an AOE clear weapon, the single target weapon should always win by a large margin.
If an AOE weapon would only be 5-10% behind on single target damage, while offering the AOE clear on top of it, nobody would use the dedicated single target weapons. Different weapons are simply designed for different situations/roles, and then comparing a weapon in exactly the role it is designed for with another weapon which is designed for a completely different role will always only have one winner. It is like saying in a classic mmo that healers and tanks are worthless, because they do less damage than a damage dealer.
At the moment there is only one legendary burn weapon, and that is not designed as single target weapon. If you just look at pure single target damage, the current burn weapons will always be behind legendary level dedicated single target weapons.
But every time I'm swarmed by many smaller melee deviant enemies, I'm glad if I have equipped my boom boom and can take out the entire pack in one explosion, instead of having to shoot every enemy separately with the Last Valor.
The game is designed for you to have not just one single build, but a variety of weapons which shine in different situations, and then to bring out the right tool for the current job. Next season I will expand to 4 different weapons which I use for different situations, not just one build for everything.
There's a few youtuber 'try' to make burn strong but it took a lot of investment to get almost as good as 2 build I mentioned which cause an argument like, 'see? it's viable. you just need to do it specifically like this' not taking into an account of the amount of effort you need to put in to make it kinda work. This is not even mention the factor of luck in farming mods.
But look at the bright side, you can switch to other status dmg focus build quite easy.
Good news is: If you do every content, you'll definitely have enough starchrom to try another build in your current season. So good luck!.
The only boss I see sniper build is good against is Forsaken Giant. And also good for Manibus public event, if you count that. So, yeah, I totally agree.
Bounce really is a cool concept but got left behind. No one is not even talking about it. lol
Is it viable? YES
Can you clear everything in the game with it solo? ABSOLUTELY
But to call it strong compared to Jaws, Shrapnel, Outer World, DE.50 is just lying to yourself.
