Chuck Norris
The studio just made a "Name and Shame ban-list" this list offers the public this information.
Region
Server Name
ID
Player Nickname
Ban Duration
Reason for Ban
This name and shame stuff is like a scare tactic and less a sign of effective cheat detection. I even read an account of server factions ganging up on users and mass reporting them to get players banned. Wonder how many people on that list are victims of that kind of nonsense.
By safe I mean anything but GameGuard.
Ok, let's be honest all anti cheat are a risk because they directly mainipulate objects in kernal space and they only protect against direct file mainipulation so not only do they violate Window's EULA and are dangerous but they are ineffective.
But GameGuard is the only anti cheat that deletes OS subsystems and protected files when it makes a false positive. Seriously I've had to fix PCs that GG bricked when it deleted protected OS files and critical system components. No other anti cheat I've seen or used does that they just close the game out.
But if I HAVE to use a anti cheat I'll use anyone BUT GameGuard. They're all ♥♥♥♥ but GameGuard is in a league of it's own... Didn't I already say that today? Besides GameGuard had a metric crapton of security vulnerabilities from the early 2000s two of which I know were never fixed and still viable.
I got in a 'discussion' yesterday morning with the.. more frequent.. crew on my server about how mass reporting ppl for not following their arbitrary PW rules (where and what ppl can build) was a slippery slope and just bad form... got told it's 'an option' .. now i'm the server Karen..
Seems that's how kids deal with everything these days.
I too hope whomever is at the helm looks at each report and does at least some surface level investigation on if a person has actually broken an actual rule or not before slamming the hammer down.
as to the OP I'm curious myself.. I'd like to run/test Reshade.. I have the power/overhead to tinker with minimal loss but I'm not even go so far as Run VLC for tunes in the background until I find out more about how hardcore the AC is.. devs' are always secret squirrel about these things and it's BS as if someone really wanted to cheat, they'd find a way.. it just hurts us regular players in the end as it means a lack of trust is fostered both ways .. as we can clearly see just by the OP.
There's your answer. Stop giving companies real money for in-game crap. Problem solved! ;)
