Also, the wipes are soft resets, at the end of each scenario you choose to play. Everything important is carried over, except your level and basic crafting resources.
I mean, great for all of you that want this... just not for us.
Thanx for the reply though.
You can group play/build in your personal instance, called Eternaland. But I'm glad they aren't following the formula if every other survival game, as I can go play those already.
Its always good to see something new, but new isnt always "better".
my personal opinion on this mechanic, is that survival games tend to appeal to the builders and the hunter/gatherer types, with no permanence to that, or at the very least no direct control over when YOU decide that you are "done", I dont think this is going to be popular for many fans of the genre after they experience thier first wipe.
I already mentioned Eternaland, but maybe you aren't familiar with it. Eternaland is a personal space, that you can open up to whoever you want, where everything you build or do is permanent. Want to make your perma base, head over there with your friends and have a blast.
Our Warband has a few with PVP arenas setup, for practicing PVP against each other, in between wars.
They aren't going to change the core of the game just to satiate some kids who can't stand leveling and gathering every Season.
The game is literally BUILT AROUND SEASONS.
If you can't accept that, then you're free to go back to the 500 other traditional survival games that already exist.
yeah i got that, but that seems to be seperate and apart from the "game", a practice sandbox/creative mode is nice and all, but it does not a full game experience make.
If thats all i wanted to do, I'd boot up a shared UE5 developer environment.
Like i said earlier, I'm not disparaging the game, its just not the experience me and my friends would be looking for, thats why i asked about private servers.
I do however think that its not going to have the kind of lifespan the devs might be looking for, theres only so many times you can have (some of) your progress reset, before it just becomes a punishing and repetative grind, to maintain your level and seeing your hard work and time wiped away isnt going to sit well with many, if not most of this genres fanbase.
