I tried this but still I am stuck at the brightness callibration screen. The options that was supposed to be confirm or skip in the bottom right of the screen was replaced by the word preview and the adjuster cannot be clicked.
I am getting the same thing.
For me the game worked fine except the lighting was messed up kinda. So, I thought I would rebuild the shaders, and try the -dx12 switch, to see if it worked better for me than Vulkan.
Then I started getting the same issue as you.
So, I am thinking it is related to the shader cache, at least in my case. Or could be related to file permissions since I have to run steam as admin to make the game work to begin with.
---- UPDATE
I got it working.
So, for me it was this...
I normally run steam as a standard windows user. But Once Human requires you run steam as admin, I'm guessing this has to do with their anti-cheat system? Anyhow.
I un-installed, and installed and ran as a standard user. Unlike other times I tried when I was running steam as admin, it patched that game properly.
After patch it stopped, I shut the game down and shut down steam.
Then I ran steam as admin and the game rebuilt the shaders, and I was able to accept the brightness and play...
