How the hell do you fish?

Trying to fish so i can get fish meats/ eels deviants and 60-70% of the time my bar just goes straight to break. Nothing I do stops it and the fish gets away.....are you supposed to be able to upgrade this stuff? Nothing at all explained in game.

2 things i found; one by accident, the other by testing.

1) fishing in a river is 'best' since if you place yourself carefully, any fish thats 'getting away' will be insta-caught as it hits the river banks.

2) this is just my experience, but letting go of thr mouse button to halt reeling in will some times allow your line to 'regen' and the fish to not go bonkers. not a 100% thing, so could just be fluke on my end /shrug

but i will agree that some fish tend to just yank the line and theres no stopping them; dunno if thats supposed to be part of the RNG to get us grinding/wasting time or implicating fish 'rarity', but ive also only seen 2 bait types, the corn one and the parts from the Deviant frog, so no idea if you can get better tech to improve.

Dont Fish to far away i lanch direct in front of my feets and then hold left Mouse Button when you get the fish 80% of the time the fish so dont escape,If you lanch to far away the fish escape near always

I teleported to a Fishing Event. And started fishing. I caught a fish. I tried to recast my line and received an error message: No Bait on your Line. I was confused. I didn't have any bait the first couple of times and fished just fine. Also, the first few times there was no bar in the lower right corner. I was just pressing Right-Click and the fishing worked. When the bar in the lower right corner appeared, all attempts to fish went straight to Line-Break.

We'll probably have to wait for a patch to fix Fishing.

you are supposed to pull line in opposite direction as fish. When you do, do it slowly, the faster you move your mouse the more resistance you put on the line moving that bar towards break all the more faster. Usually when i get one of those lovely fish that just run for it and seem impossible to real in, i just let the break bar refill while tapping the mouse to keep the escape bar from filling and slowly but surely ill gain ground and get the fish. Is it worth it vs just letting it run away and recasting? not really lol
