It would do absolutely nothing to your game so why all the pearl clutching in the corner?
If you hold the right mouse button down, then the game enters 3rd person targeting mode. But, if you instead "tap" right click, the game enters first person targeting mode.
If you prefer shooting your targets in first person, then make use of tap right-click. If you prefer to play in third person, hold right-click.
It's all about money.
This isn't RUST. RUST is a PVP focused game for Ayn Randian sorts. And while Once Human has some optional PVP elements it's going for a much cuddlier vibe. You may have noticed the cute chibi creatures running around your base and the NPC vendors with ridiculous jellyfish on their heads
Of all the things people ask for, this would probably cost the least amount of Development time.
Well, I for one am very grateful that this is 3rd person view. And I do want to be able to see my character.
I chose the female meta and spent the time needed in character creation to create a sexy-looking babe who is now roaming the map in her underwear and army boots. (You can choose to hide most of the armour). Now I'm just waiting for the option to hide the cradle as well.
But as Front Bucket said earlier, it is probably a very deliberate choice on the part of NetEase in order to sell cosmetic gear.
