Is shrapnel / Fast gunner overtuned?
DISCLAIMER:
Don't shoot the messenger dear Shrapnel / Fast gunner users, I'm not advocating for nerfing your fun.

Here goes;
I'm seeing people talk about hittin 70-100k dps , WITH RELOADING.
including videos on people consistently hitting 6000-7000 crits with LMGs (the predator LMG specifically).
And even the blue starting AK is hitting some impressive numbers on a full shrap build.

I've been sitting at 25k dps for like, 2 weeks now.

Until recently I've been pretty consistently keeping up with people who ran shrapnel, but as of now im being out damaged by a LARGE margin.

(I'm talking about the overall damage dealt after silos etc)
(and yes, I aim for weakspots.)
Hard/pro silos and bosses, there's no competition in terms of overall dmg dealt.

I'm running power-surge, 2 pieces of Heavy armor and 4 pieces Shelterer and the Gasmask.
I've got all the required mods for weapons and armor for my build to be optimal (on paper at least), I doubt it can get any better.

It didnt help that the devs nerfed the absolute crap out the power-surge shotgun without adding it in the patchnotes.
It used to say something like:
"deals powersurge damage, but will not deal powersurge status."

It now says:
"After dealing powersurge, it wont deal powersurge again"
whatever that means, and the proc is pretty much gone so wtf is this shotgun good for now?
it's supposed to be able to crit on powersurge procs, but it's description now contradicts that in terms of being useful at all.
(It may as well just say: "You get ONE powersurge crit, and that's all you get.")

I'm now primarily using the purple SCAR, and it's.. not great either.

I don't mind being outclassed in damage or anything, it just seems busted and overtuned (or overlooked?? i don't know)
Shrapnel and fastgunner is just too good to not use, since It's putting everything else to shame.
(I can't speak for explosive and burn builds, they seem like they're doing just fine.)

While I understand that "bounce" is a form of cleave build for groups of enemies.
That's completely overshadowed by vortex (wich is an awesome build btw).

I'm not for nerfing shrapnel or fast gunner, but I would suggest looking at the discrepancy between build dmg outputs, because some builds are getting left in the dust here, and investing all that starchrome into a build that's being handicapped feels like I've wasted my time.
It certainly doesnt make me (personally) want to invest another 6 weeks so that I too can make a shrapnel or fast gunner build.

I played surge pretty heavily near the beginning because I loved the shotgun and the SOCR was doing wonders for the PvP truck event, however, I have recently got all the pieces for a good Frost Vortex build and switched to that which does a lot more damage with the same level of gear and legendary mods. It seems that Power Surge may be a good PvP spec, but it doesn't hold up to shrapnel. I know power surge is good with the MP7 due to the high proc rate and mods make it so you don't have to reload so just non-stop lighting, but I don't think that will end up as good as shrapnel unfortunately.

Highest I've seen is 139k on test dummy

What mod did you have ?
I have a vortex build, but only 17k for me...

just for the record, bulseye and unstable bomber are even stronger, so the problem is rather that your choice of weapon, power surge, is simply the weakest of all options, everything else is better

so the other options are not too strong, your weapon is just crap at the moment

Sure, but then the argument just becomes "please buff this one build", bounce still sucks even worse and needs a complete overhaul then.
I'm testing it out with the SMG and it's a bit better, so it's actually looking like the shotgun and the powersurge scar is the problem.

All I'm asking is that the Devs have a look at how these builds are performing in comparisson to each other , no need to nerf everything else into unfun oblivion.
It's more the case for not making some stagnant meta of 2-3 builds always being the better option.

Just feels extremely unrewarding and unfun to spend 6 weeks farming up the starchrome for a full set of a build, only to be completely outgunned by everything else, you know?
Feels like I wasted my time and starchrome on a lemon build.

An lmg gets crazy numbers on a target dummy with all headshots?

Makes sense, wouldn't fit real world application because they won't be getting anywhere near that amount of headshots.
