Report a translation problem
I've tried everything, updating Windows, GPU drivers, adjusting hardware acceleration.
Nothing works. Only the game freezes for me. I'm still able to alt-tab out, etc. I checked task manager and the game is listed as "Not Responding" and CPU, GPU, etc activity drops to zero, but then 15 seconds later when the game unfreezes, all utilization jumps to 90%+.
I guess I can avoid that one small area in the game, but it's driving me crazy.
A few of us reported the problem to the devs back in the betas, they said "we'll fix it", but never did
I eventually found this fixed it for me, for whatever reason
Go to your once human steam folder
- Right click "ONCE_HUMAN.exe" -> "Create shortcut"
- Change the target to:
Running via steam still causes restarts but via the shortcut I've had no problems
I hope one of the Devs can responds to this thread.
I have been playing for well over 1 week & the game has never crashed once
But after the latest update its crashed 3 times today, where i have had to use the task manager to end the game
Mostly stuttering and freezing for a sec, though it doesn't happen all the time, was fine before.
But since the last update the game causes my pc crashing with blue screen for unknown reason :(

Wow, bro thats amazing and worked for me! Literally no freezes. Thank u so much.
THIS WORKED GUYS
1. open windows defender firewall
2. click outbound rules and click new rule
3. click 'custom' then next
4. click 'this program path' and put the path to ONCE_HUMAN.exe , eg C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Once Human\ONCE_HUMAN.exe then click next
5. under 'protocol type' click tcp
6. under 'remote port' click 'specific ports' and type 443 then click next
7. skip 'scope' section by clicking next
8. click 'block connection'
9. skip 'profile' section by clicking next
10. give it a name so you can easily find it (you'll have to enable/disable this a lot)
11. make sure its disabled when launching then enable it after main menu is up
you'll have to edit it yourself if you want it to work all the time because this blocks all 443 connections, which includes their update servers. easy work around is to just disable the rule, launch game until the main menu is reached, then enable the rule.
it stutters when a connection is attempted to be made but its better than 30+ seconds.
i just discovered this fix so im not sure if there are vital 443 connections that are made during gameplay but ive fast traveled and world hopped without issue.
so what I did was I used DXVK DX11 DLLs (follow a guide on the internet) and it worked miraculously
it's quite funny since upon visiting all the areas where the game should've frozen my whole PC, the Vulkan API shrugs it off with a bit of stutter and 2-second freezes then it continues to run normally, although I found a few rock textures not loading correctly and I do think those textures are the root cause for these freezes and crashes.
much easier to just use reshade,it has GUI and lets you pick which DLL to use, Vulkan DLL as well more info should be on Nexus about how to use reshade on once human. just google "once human reshade"
sry if this is a stupid question, but what does "change target to" mean? Do i move the shortcut or what?
