The real problem in my case is that I played 200 hours in 2 weeks and now I have nothing to do. Do I blame the devs and say it is bad game design? No, I do not. It is 100 percent my issue that I am an old man and retired and played 15 hours a day. The game design needs to comply to Chinese laws and in China they actually prohibit games to force people to play more than a few hours a day (like 4). So they have to comply to a rule that I had with all my children too: No more than 4 hour screen time for you buddy. I am glad I am retired and kids are adults now ;) I can break my own rule as much as I want. As this game is concerned, next season, I will stick to less hours a day as it was designed and intended. Good and reasonable design btw. As far as the other stuff you are crying about. I am pretty sure they will make Starchrome even more important the next seasons.
you seem to be the one trolling. It doesn't matter if you play one minute or 24 hours, if you use up more keys than you can get, you run out of keys. I say this with 120 controllers because I haven't been farming like crazy. But to clear the content that just released I will have to use all my controllers to advance the story. and then be without controllers for two weeks while the devs release more enemies that take all your resources to kill and don't pay out anything in return.
Technically the real endgame as of right now is farming mods and min/maxing their sub stats. Controllers are the only way to efficiently get mods and their sub stats, which is rng. Add on top of that said rng with a limited resource and you really cannot do endgame.
Also another thing I can add is some of the dungeons are annoying as hell to run through. Fridge boss is one of the most annoying. Keep in mind this is just a preference or an opinion but having immune stages on bosses are horrible. Add on to that I have to deal with adds, run around and hit the shield generators while the boss is spamming icicles at you all while being immune. Not fun. Just let me fight the dam boss.
YOYO is correct.
Go ahead and use up all of your controllers. Let us know how much time it takes you to do it. I have a feeling you can't. You simply don't have time.
Remove the controller issue. The people griping won't be happy. The game was not designed for the sheer amount of time they are putting in. Remove ALL time gates and restrictions. The same people will not be happy. The game literally does not have enough content for them.
The issue isn't the controllers - it's the players. They don't need more controllers to get mods, they need more controllers to min/max. Before they start over in 2.5 weeks. That's really not reasonable.
50 - 100 map exploration / 25 per week with daily quests / few events / some quests also give some if i remember correctly.
Spending 200 controllers doesnt take that much time.
Since start if you kept all of them doing the entire map, every single weekly and some events... you probably have 250 - 300.
Some Silos use 2 controllers.
Killing lvl 60 boss take 60sec, running dungeons to farm is like 2 to 5 min.
Lets say you farm a boss which takes 60sec to beat it means 5 hours of farm. Then it s over.
If you are only doing Silos that take 5 min each then it s 25 hours of farm.
So stacking 4 weeks of controllers means that at the end you have between 5 hours and 25 hours of farm.
One of the only way to make you character progress.
I dont count chest runs as a real progression cause it s totally random, there s no gameplay tied to it you litteraly run and open things skipping most mobs....
Ofc doing more than 4 hours screen isnt good, if the game force you to do so then there s a problem. What i m talking about doesnt force you to do so.
You could do all the dungeons using controllers to get loot that you want (which means even less screen time for you grandpas) ofc it might not be with the perfect roll stats... but you would have nearly same stats than people farming those content over and over again to min / max.
If all the content is tied to limitations then multiple things will happen
1 - People will just get bored and play something else cause they have nothing to do to progress. When you do something on a MMO 90% of the time the goal is progression.
You might think that s fine and that people will come back on the game but no they wont. They ll just say that this game is trash with no content and will find something that gives content.
2 - People will do alts and not 1 alt but 2 or 3 alts. You can use those alts to get more ressources if you put them in the same Hive doing Acide farm and so on...
It allows you to farm weapons calibration.
It also allows you in PvP to bid on your Warband territory. (yes this one is a big issue the game has right now)
If they have nothing to do on their main then they will do it on a alt character.
This will result in even more problems in the long run, server getting closed cause too many characters on that server but 1 player would mean between 2 to 4 characters. So you ll end up on empty servers. It exactly what happens now to first PvP servers that came out. Not cause of alts (at least it s not the main reason cause most people didnt thought about it). But cause people just left to play with their friends on other servers and so on...
3 - Game is totally free to play without any p2w what so ever. For this game to continue running cause there s a cost... they need to keep lots of players playing their game to be able to sell season pass, skins and so on... there was no payment, no subscription to play...
If people just leave then even if you love this game it will close simple as that.
At the end of the day it s a company not a child care where the goal is to be careful that children play less than 4 hours per day. (that s the parent job to say no and not to companies to design their products to please parents unable to do their job)
So yeah reaching week 4 having nothing more to do that can make you character progress is concerning... even worse when you see that this 4th Phase will last not 1 week but 1 week and a half which means even more time to wait. Phase 5 will probably be 1 week and a half too cause they just try to make old server match new servers in term of season. At least the first group of servers they created once the first ones were full.
It s really hard to make people go back on a game once they have a bad opinion of it... anybody that played New World just a bit seriously know exactly what i m talking about.
Even now there s some people if i ask them if they want to go back on this game to try it again and see how it is, the answer is a clear NO without even trying to figure out how it is right now.
In September there s Throne and Liberty that comes out. Free 2 Play MMO.
Even if it s totally p2w, lots of people will go on it and play at the beginning cause at first p2w and content problem isnt a thing for the first 1 month at least.
What will happen to Once Human which is also a MMO if players have nothing to do on this game cause of all the limitations?
Will players go on Throne and Liberty and then want to come back on Once Human after having missed an entire season of Starchrom and so on....?
People talking about wipes being the biggest issue... but trust me wipes are a joke in comparaison of nothing to do in the endgame.
Why does the game end if you have no controllers left to use??
Can still run them without controllers and get min loot...
Everyone complains about the grind, but the grind is actually what makes any game fun and challenging and once that ends, you grind to the end then there feels like nothing todo...
So you ask for more end game content...
But what you are really asking for without realising it is for more grind XD
I do love a bit of irony thanks for the laughs :)
However recently Devs have said on their discord than Controllers will be gone very soon, probably by the end of this March. Look up on youtube, can't remember the source (Doomeris probably).
Pretty sure I suggested this back in july as well.
Are the controllers gone with this update btw?
