Fetch-a-Lot bunny doesn't drop from The Bald Cypress tree if you are using chainsaw

I spent 2 hours trying to get this deviant from The Bald Cypress tree. I got nothing, but once I switched to the axe I got it from the 2nd attempt. Just... Why? I switched to the chainsaw and a solar drill a while ago and was not using the axe for logging and mining. Should I go back to the axe or something?? I have a bunch of Dig Boys deviants obtained from the solar drill mining. Still, there are deviants that I should collect exclusively from chopping the trees with the axe? Why?

i confirm this.. got 2 in one tree after i switched to a bronze axe. SO dumb..

Go get it from both chainsaw and axe ... but with the axe you "chop" multiple times so you have a lot of chances to get it per tree , with the chainsaw you have one chance per tree .
