SO this is weapon leveling. Is it worth it to do it to tier 1 equipment.. Or should I wait for later tiers.

you'll want to hold the horses when stardust starts to appear then ask yourself if it's worth it because stardust gets eaten up real quick with calibrating. I recommend learning how to get that as early as possible or you'll be scavenging like me and barely keeping up with legendary calibrations.
